Anyway, I am really satisfied that Matt O'Neill is being sued. He's been a very bad example for how to professionally run a site and now he's been bitten. As a Souths supporter, we have to put up with the poster 'Botak' with his jabs at David Tapp and Paul Langmack. MattO actually defended him and now the whole forum is gone because of that mentality. I was told about this site and have made a switch. I expect many many more to do the same.

A word of advice. Don't let the idiots in. At any cost keep them out.

Sorry that this sorta went off topic but i am venting some frustrations.

okey dokey guys and gals - i think that us as Rooster fans need to get on with life, leave the whining to others and get back to where where we were last week - a happy unit not torn apart by any outside pressures. So I think all of us would take one step back - go hmmmphh and then not write another word about the sorry saga.

If you wish to take it to the NRL site - its one I don't have to monitor..

For fear of getting brandished a whinger and not wanting to make your life miserable, I'll only say one more thing on the matter but not really on the matter.

As you know, it's not often that things like this ruffle my feathers to the point of losing them - take the cyber personality who, all those months ago, made the comment regarding having a signature with my name and a less than plesant reference to children in it at the place we don't name. As I said to him/her then, he could have what he wanted as, when it all boils down to it, it affects my life in no way (or something to that effect) and I seem to remember he came around to our way of thinking by the end of the thread. It never crossed my mind to whinge to a mod or admin and the mod of that forum seemed to find nothing wrong with the post either or else it would have been locked. Anyway, the point I'm trying to make here is, I do take a certain amount of offence with generalisations, and generalisations are what's been happening for some time, that all Roosterfans are dumb shits, all Roosterfans are responsible for what has happened, all Roosterfans are whingers ( :shock: :lol: ) etc. I think what everyone needs to realise is that we are responsible for our own actions only and, if they have problems with 'some' Roosterfans, then take it up with those Roosterfans instead of making sweeping generalisations.

You'll hear nothing more from me about it now. I'll be a good boy now. :lol:

Well I'm glad to see you all feel very smug about this, but spare a thought for the 100s and 1000s of regular posters at rleague forums, people who have been posting there happily for a year or two, people who have made friends and made rleague their first port of call whenever they go online, not because of MattO or the quality of articles on the front page, but because it is a huge and thriving forum.

I couldn't give 2 shits about what's going on up top. I refuse to see this from anyone elses point of view. Rleague forums are very popular and the posters there are no reflection of MattO or a few loonies who like to talk sh.t about the Roosters, Rabbits, or whatever. All I know is that one Roosters fan has complained and f**ked it up for EVERYONE, and I am angrier about this than anyone could ever be about some poorly written article posted at a site that has no reputation for accurate news anyway.

And this effects the Rooster fans that post here, how? I am under the belief that no one here sent the email to Hadley regarding what was published on the front page of worl and all were simply expressing an opinion on the matter (which is what forums are all about). If that makes us smug, welcome aboard.

Furthermore, I don't believe the offending email pulled the plug on the worl forums, that was the owners' choice. A choice made after Hadley made it personal by making reference to posts made about himself in the forum. If the owners felt they needed to remove the forums while they gain legal advice because of Hadleys comments, then that is their perogative and maybe you should be taking this issue, of not being able to post there, up with them.

Whether the forum gets up and running again is of no concern to me personally but, I hope for you and your fellow cyber friends that it does because I would hate to see a preceedence set by a knee jerk reaction. I think most people realise that what is written on forums is personal opinion. The matter we were discussing above is that of what was published on the front page of a website as 'news', a matter that has nothing to do with the forums and I personally think that some care should be taken by website owners as to what is 'published'. Take our forum sevens articles, for example. I would say that some careful scrutiny is involved in choosing what is put on the front page because our (being the writers of the articles) opinions may not always be accurate and could contain material that would be considered inappropriate for publication in a more 'formal' setting than the sevens game. Theres a definite line between keyboard hero's opinions and what should be front page material.

But I guess that's just my smug opinion.

BackPacker, I think it's pretty obvious from comments by *some* people earlier in this thread, that there are plenty of people who would like to see rleague fail, or think that MattO deserves to be sued.

That's all well and good, I'm no MattO fan either, but I think it's a bit short-sighted to be delighted about the current situation because it hurts MattO or rleague, without mentioning that it mostly hurts the thousands of people who enjoy posting there, because they enjoy talking to each other.

If you're not one of these people happy to see rleague fall, or happy to see MattO being sued (or whatever is going on), then my comments don't apply to you.

This was the first thread I had seen about what had happened, and it was obvious that a lot of people in this thread were less than sympathetic, so I just had to get my anger off my chest

TH your entitled to your opinion, and I mine. This thread was posted prior to Hadley taking up the cause. It will not affect my life one iota if rleague is up or not. My understanding is there are other reasons the site is closed.

You have taken my comments and generalised them, those who know me know exactly what and to whom I was referring in my original post. ;-)

TH, I can't deny that MattO has never endeared himself to me because of his blind hatred of the Roosters and the articles he has allowed published on his front page which are written with bitterness and bias (to which he has admitted being guilty of and I'll give him credit for that) but thats just human nature. As is blaming all Rooster fans for the demise from one email.

I do feel for you guys having no (home ground) forum to post in and think pulling the forums may have been a bit premature on their part. However, the general gist of this thread was regarding the article that was written by Mr Chong. Considering it was early in the week and emotions were running high, as they do, appearances can be deceiving. I can't speak for any of my team mates or the others that have posted in this thread, but most of the negativity was regarding the article and the thread, was in fact, started with comment about being filthy about the article. Unfortunately, MattO seems to be the most obvious target, perhaps because he has hung his balls out on different occaisions, so it's not surprising that he is now getting them trampled. I think that *some* people (myself included) just feel that he (and all the owners) should take responsibility for what is published on his front page.

Anyway, lets just hope it's all sorted soon so that those of you who enjoy worl can be back in prime posting form soon.
