What is there to feel sorry for?

Did anyone tell him to niggle opponents endlessly?

Did anyone force him to examine the anus of other players?

Who compelled him to swear at match officials and ball boys?

Who pushed his elbow into Galloway's jaw?

I have no sympathy for hopoate in any way, shape or form. He is a thug of the genuine order. We've had articles saying he is a reformed man blah blah blah, but we continue to have the same old crap from this spastic. Its a routine.

The guy is an idiot and if I was Manly, i'd march him into the CEO's office this morning and tear up his contract in front of him.

To everyone saying, its harsh to get sacked for his kids, thats not Manly's problem. Suck shit, you'd think having 8 kids would make you wise up a bit and cherish your job and make u want to behave for your kids futures, obviously this wanker doesn't feel the same.

He's had too many chances. Its time to go.............Hoppa

Ok, I know I am going to be slammed for this but, I really do feel sorry for Hoppa. After years of doing really stupid stuff, all needless to mention, his career is likely to end because of a football incident. Really, he has done so many of thesae great hits for us and I really do feel fr him. He is going to be sacked, although he has 8 kids to feed. Now I'm sorry but I thinbk its a shame, a player who really could have been something, will now be out because of a football incident (which 100s have made a high tackle before, not as bad as that though). HIs career will be over, because for once he was trying to play for his team, but he misjudged it, not because he sware or fingered a guy! A little condolences for him I feel are needed!

You idiot, nobody told hoppa to do all the stuff he has done.

The one that actually gets me is the ball boy incident. A father of 8, a so called religous man, and how does he treat someones kid? I wonder how he would react if I treated one of his the same way?

The guy is brain dead and if losing his job means he wont be able to afford to have any more kids then good. 8 reproductions of this cum stain on humanity is more than enough thank you, infact it's 8 too many.

Yer but cmon, if you can honesty tell me you've never seen a misjudged tackle before I'll listen. It was clearly accidental you could see by his reaction when sent off. It's a shame he will go down trying to play for his team, compared to what he has done. And if I were him I would feel hard done by considering this was trying to motivate his team gone wrong, not fingering or sweaing at some guy!

A misjudged tackle. It was not misjudged at all.

It was late, it was high it was with a raised elbow. Had it been shoul;der it would have been different. For all intents and purposes it should get the same treatment that Danny Williams got.

John Hopoate is a player that had a lot of potential in this game and under Bob Fulton was pretty good. But since 2000 he has been nothing but a blight on the game and has chance after chance. He really should have woken upto himself when he was banned for the finger poking incidents. But he has not woken upto himself he has abused officials and last week it was a ballboy then this week it's the hit. Sure he has 8 kids to feed but so do other people I know and they manage it without playing footy so will he.

The Manly club at present are doing so much good for themselves and the game. Sacking Hopoate today will be of bigger benefit to the club then keeping him.

I agree it was a misjudged tackle. Misjudged by about 1 metre. If he was tackling Matt Orford he would have sailed over the top of him and landed in row 6 of the Arko stand.

Johnny Peard would have loved for his bombs to have gone high!

No wonder Hoppa has brain explosions. That happends when you are so high that the oxygen gets to thin!

Memo Hoppa - next time you decide to tackle anyone, equip yourself with a parachute and breating apparatus!

If you ran and elbowed somebody in the face when he wasn't looking on the street you would be charged with a serious crime. Hoppa should be charged with braking the law, this was no fotball incident he was just being a thug pure and simple.

How about the parenst of Lester, when Bird put his knee though his head...?

That WAS deliberate, no doubt about it.

It was Marteene, not Lester and yes we know it was deliberate. Alot of fans were filthy with him after that. There was not one Cronulla fan supporting his thuggery.

However, after Bird did that cowardly knee, Marteene was not left lying unconcious on the turf with his body in convulsions. In fact, I think he might have even played on.

Massive difference.

Hoppa's act was one of the lowest acts I have seen on a field, yet he still has some of you Manly turds trying to defend him.

Don't be an idiot. There would be three arrests each week if we brought that into it.

What a ridiculous suggestion.

Hoppa's tackle was a disgrace, but to have him carted off in a paddywagon, read his rights and handcuffed at the sideline..... what is this?

You cant tackle people on the street either you know....

How far do you take that rule, though?

It is a very big deal, if you read any of my posts, you would see I have said that, but arrests are going a bit far.

Would a Nutley style incident warrant an arrest???

You know you're talking out of your arse so just give up now.

Bird didn't make excuses, he took what he had coming and all the cronulla fans gave it to him about it and most still give him shit about it. Bird was fined by the club and even said sorry to Marteene in person after calling him right after the game. In his time off he took kids with cancer to footy games and into the sheds so they could meet the players after the game.

Hoppa said "what" or something when he was sent and acted like it was unfair. While he has said sorry has a history of acting like a animal(did he say sorry to Morrison and other blokes who had their bum fingered?) and will spend the next few months in the paper with photos of him and his kids while saying he is just trying to make a living.

Massive difference.

Agreed. He's just a big bloke who needs to let off some steam every now and then.

The game needs characters like Hoppa.
