I hate AFL!

i hate AFL! I'd rather any team win then the f**king swans. They start winning again and suddenly every eastern suburbs yuppy is a long time swans supporter? Bloody hell, all the '96 merchandise is coming out of the closet. What is wrong with people? I don't get why they are all so god damn fickle. AFL is an alright sport, I suppose. I mean there is the occasional hit but it ain't sydney's heritage. Rugby league is Sydney's sporting history, rugby league and cricket. Soccer as well. But f**king afl??? No way! Then all of a sudden 76 thousand attend a match? What for? they have no idea about the sport, the players, the leagues history. why the hell are they attending? I mean, a victory would be so damn hollow, I don't get how they can show up and cheer and be happy after victory when they have never even watched the team before. The swans name is a pussy name as well, perfectly suited to their eastern suburbs fans. I feel better now.

B_Tiger. Thats one of your best. I confess I watch the Swans - but as you know if there is clash with a Tigers game I go to see the Tigers. And heaven forbid I watch rugby union and cricket too. Just dont see any of it as either or. Love the Tigers, they are my team, but enjoy watching the Swans - its a different game with different skills. There are fewer big hits (although after he got creamed on Sunday Brett Kirk might beg to differ) but the speed of the ball movement is faster. At times its more athletic (some of Leo Barry’s marks for example).
In terms of who watches the game. In Sydney the Swans do draw a large part of their base from the Eastern Suburns - I guess its a similar demographic to the Roosters actually - lots of toffs - and a lot of them dont know much about either game.
Paul Roos, Swans coach, does not see the Swans to be in competition with rugby league and he is right. Swallow your pride B_Tiger and come to a game - you might enjoy it!

thing is afl is popular around town & perosnally id prefer a big buzz around the city for the swans than for the bulldogs

i dont think the swans will win no1 tell eddie this but i think collingwood might get up but if the swans won it would take a lot away from grand final week & that wouldnt be a good thing

bald, I excuse you completely of any criticism I put on swans fans. At first hearing you went to swans matches I was shocked and distraught but I see why you go and I believe you may even be called a loyal supporter. My main complaint is with the 20k who show up only to watch success, in fact the vast majority of afl fans are only their for the success. I suppose that is the same with every code in sydney, which, in my opinion, is a real shame. sport needs more loyalty. There's nothing ebtter then watching a club down in the dumps develop into a success (although, how the f**k would I know because all my teams have been f**king crap for 12 years).

Yappy and kingtigerman, shame on you both. Especially you yappy, you should know better. i hate the dogs but damn they are still in the league competition. the swans success would ensure that corporate sponsorship will struggle to be found for league clubs. It's already bad with Union taking away sponsors from league in the canberra region. Corporations won't put big dollars into a competition that struggles to maintain number 1 position even in it's own territory. Melbourne have the right idea in killing the storm, we should do the same to the swans.

I love it if the Swans win. I don't like AFL, but if the Swans win, its just another thing the NSW lot can put sh#t on the Mexicans for.

Its just like I dont really follow soccer, but when Australia beat England 3-1, it was Pom paying out time.

penrith are only side who deserve to have the city supporting em & yappy , see ya next week
