Must be a slow news day.

Why are people still bothering to write about this hack.

I wish him luck in his future endeavours but they should not be on the football field...

Not sure why he is looking back...forward is the go isn't Stuey?

Maybe call Dad and ask about a job at the stains, if Brown does not have a good start they might looking for a Mr Fix it.

Douglas - Translation - Thanks for being so inept at your job that the Aussie coach is now my coach - It will do my career wonders after a year where I treaded water.

Coming to a footy club near you...

And a helluva lot funnier than Matthew Johns.

Get over it raper you arseclown. Not many people in life get the sack for grose incompetence with a $200 000 payout.

If you want a job in League, go look in the English tenth division or perhaps De la Salle under 6z's

Where do you begin on this latest disaster?

I'm not sure I can add any more than was said since this came up in a near identical article (the mobile suit hire affair) - 8 October

http://forums.leagueunlimited.com/showthread.php?t=159213&page=2

Or the last time Raper was deluded into thinking he was the next Matthew Johns - less than a month ago!! - 26 November

http://www.smh.com.au/news/league/raper-looking-to-play-new-role/2006/11/25/1164341453370.html

It is now 22 December and things are winding up so the journos are rehashing old news because it's difficult to dig at this time of the year - but this is easily the worst of the lot.

Maybe this rubbish is all based on the one interview:

8 October
"If that means going in as a specialist coach somewhere, I'd look at that because I love the game."

26 November
Raper said he was keen to follow the lead of part-time mentor Johns, who is employed by Melbourne as a consultant.

"That's something I'd like to do if there is a role out there," he said

22 December
"I had a chat to Michael Searle the other day. It wasn't about moving up to the Gold Coast but maybe doing a Matthew Johns type of role where I can come in for a few months and be Mr-Fix it. I wouldn't even have a problem being an assistant coach if it was the right role. "

--

26 November
"I'm not a backstabbing person, that's not my go."

22 December
While still having ambitions to be head coach, Raper said he would be a loyal assistant. "I have ambitions to be a head coach but I will never be a backstabber,'' he said.

etc etc

Possibly reading between the lines "I have enjoyed working with my wife Cathy in our formal hire business" - maybe the suit hire business has failed and he needs something else. But this is a train wreck. I enjoyed the last two shockers but this is just beyond a joke.

The online version missed the true gem of the article - the picture. Here is a crude photo I took using my camera phone.

I think that picture tells the story. But just to confirm - let's get this straight.

This bloke is so hopeless that even his father - who is an Immortal - cannot (or will not) call in any favours for him to the point that he is reduced to begging, like a dog after a stray chop, in a major newspaper.

It's delightful to watch.

He must cringe when reading that story. reminds me of the Life of Brian, "Spare a schekel for an ex-leper"
He had no respect from the playing staff, no people skills and no personality. How can he become a Mr Fixit, he was the only man not to see the problems with his halves and was too scared to make a change. His father won't and can't save him despite being an immortal as he his name does not carry the weight and respect it once did at St George.

It was like watching a car accident, you don't want to look but can't help it when reading that story.

I don't like it when people kick a man when he is down but Raper is exposing himself to it.

Sure people are kicking him while he's down but he keeps trying to throw punches back. He's like the black knight in Monty Python.
