$1.5 million over 3 years or close enough to that. Watson is right, no other NRL Club can offer that, but he should of been signed up with the Warriors months ago! That is the bottom line.

In saying that, i'll look forward to watching him for Wigan. They need something after their recent results!

And there you have it. The Warriors could not compete with that.

And who is to say the Warriors didn't offer a deal a while ago, Feka passed it onto Peter Brown who said well lets go shopping in the UK.

That sort of money would put him in the top 10 players in the NRL, so fair enough that the Warriors couldn't compete. As for saying he should've been signed up months ago would it really have made that much difference? Contracts can be brokeen easily enough and for that sort of money I'd suggest that they would have.

Hmmmmmmmmm, what about Willie Mason? He would cost a heap but he can play in the front row and second row. Would be killer with Price and Wiki.

After the year they had, and after watching the club sign two props in front of him, and at that stage his form was improving but still patchy. Iafeta would of signed in a heartbeat for a slight bump up in his existing contract

Wont happen, especially as he has signed a 4 year contracts for 1.5 mill.

What amazes me is Paleaasina will earn the same as Mason, only more because his contract is year shorter.

Loosing Jones, Guttenbeil AND Paleaasina to teams in the ESL makes me think some action must be taken, these players have signed with teams over there: Ian Hindmarsh, Ben Harris, David Peachy, Scott Donald, Stacey Jones, Awen Guttenbeil, Iafeta Paleaasina, Paul Rauhihi, Feleti Mateo, Ian Henderson, Bryan Fletcher, John Wilson, Pat Richards and those are the ones confirmed currently, im sure there will be more.

These players are rumoured...RUMOURED to go to england....Jamaal Lolesi, Michael Sullivan, Richard Villasanti, Mark Hughes, Joe Guluvao, Shaun Timmins, and Jason Cayless.

Thats 19, NRL standerd players, and with the Gold Coast team entering the competition the NRL wont be able to afford to loose 19 players every season. There must be a restriction or something set in place.

The reason a lot of the Warriors go there is because Watson won`t realese any decent players to other NRL clubs, only to the UK

Well I'm not going to disagree with him there, if you've got to lose them you don't want them turning up for the opposition.

You guys should stop hoping for these "miracle" signings the club is going to pull out their ass.

The Warrriors are now back to being a small time club, with little media exposure (the only team in the NRL yet to get a FTA game over here and won't be getting one in the forseeable future, compared to this time last year when they had already had two) and support dwindling, it is no surprise to see the club came up second in the RLW player's poll as "the team you would least like to join" with Iafeta and so many others leaving and the admins constantly saying they won't be active on the player market, spells of financial problems to me, no surprise when your sole income comes from sponsorship and attendances. Players like Price and Wiki are paid serious dollars and the club will probably have a hard enough time meeting them.

We are a club in trouble just face it, we aren't getting a Braith Anasta/Jason Cayless/Shaun Berrigan we will probalby sign a few youngsters from other clubs but that's all, that is why we need to let the local talent have a go.

The big question is who is Mick going to buy in for next season to bolster the pack?....I hope its not a plane load of "Old age Ozzie pensioners." that'll be the last straw.

If he does, the club will have a name change to: ONCE WERE WARRIORS!!!!!

i think we are getting used to the constant stream of bullsh*t coming from warriors hq.

with the right management feka would have stayed. his dream was to play for and in nz.this crap about salary cap restrictions is just that, crap.
the money is there, we,ve lost more than we,ve gained
(or will have by rd 26 this year). its a management fault, they are pushing these guys.

thomas lueluewai (love him or hate him) wasnt allowed to go to parra,, london broncos was no problem. same with vinnie anderson.

the guys going to the esl are actually pushing up the price of nrl players, the old supply-demand scenario.

i really think watson should go look after wigan, they need a go ahead guy to get rid a bit of the 'dead wood'. never know, he might send some our way....

andy platt was a bloody champion prop.

The thing is though, it is almost too late to blood our own now. By the time Wiki and Price leave we need to have prop(s) who are solid and constant and you only really get that after 2-3 years riding the pine and learning how to do it week in and week out. Iafeta was the perfect candidate to bring over the top of Wiki and Price in their final year at the club and then be a solid starter with 5yrs experience under his belt and he's be able to stay there for another 5 years.

Even if the Warriors are able to pluck the "next" Iafeta from somewhere, he'll only have the opportunity to have 2years to learn the ropes before the old heads go...

So the cycle of buying experience from other clubs continues. ala Platt, Betts, Alexander, Symons, Campion, Cleary, Price, Wiki and many many more.

We are too old as a club to be doing that rubbish now we could of had at least two Generations of experience go through the club and then filter down to the next generation.

Look how good Cleary, Campion, Price and Wiki have been for our club in helping bring a bit of pride and toughness into out squad and that is coming from outsiders who (although their intentions are good) do not have their heart and sole at the club. But instead we continue the cycle of cutting players (or failing to resign them) who we have put money and time into and are ready to start to really return dividends

Nor is it his obligation to do so (release them to the NRL).

If a player renigs on his contract its Watson's prerogative to say ok, we'll let you go, but only to an ESL club. Good on him. You either honour the contract and wait until June 30 rolls by and THEN it is the player's choice, or you honour the word of the employer's contract with which you are breaking, which legally the employer doesn't have to oblige for you.

This isn't Cinderella and the Twenty Eight Dwarves, I'd be astounded if the Warriors said, hey, Brisbane, here's Stacey Jones, Roosters here's Thomas Leuluai. Make sure they play blinders AGAINST us. For the record, Ali Lauitiiti, Vince Mellars, PJ Marsh, Matt Jobson were ALL given the option of playing in the NRL prior to their contracts ending, Jobson, Marsh, Mellars took that chance, Lauitiiti didn't.

I know what you're saying & I agree its the safest move for the club to make, & on most levels its the smartest.
However, I also think its a soft c*ck option which is great for the ESL, but not so great for the NRL. Wouldnt like to see all other NRL clubs adopt this stance. The accumulation would be a complete case of sh*tting in your own nest, (as is the issue Skinner touched on before). If you want to be the best, you should want to beat the best, not dilute the opposition.
The players make the competition what it is. The more quality players you oust, the less that competition becomes.

Good luck to Iafeta, nice to see him go out on his own terms.
