Kirke goes alright actually, word was he was after a shot at Superleague somewhere. I'd say in the end he might have been talent-spotted through the coaching links between Leeds and York? He wasn't a stand-out star of the team or anything, but an impressive worker who isn't afraid to dig in during the tough games.
Came from Dewsbury and played close to every match through the season. As a backrower he's quite fit with his size - not a blob of a player if you know what I mean? Handy in defense, and also in attack with an offload or some support play. Definitely has potential to develop his game within a fulltime set-up surrounded by some class players.
He might get some first team game time around the middle of the year, and we'll see how he goes from there?
York's starting to be a good stepping stone for some players lately - Danny Brough into Hull this year, Austin Buchanan into Wakefield next year, and now Kirke. Peter Fox will be better for his year with York as well - look for him to step up at some stage next year if Leeds don't bring in any more wingers.
