I think what the thread is getting at is why allow Melbourne to host the NRL Grand Final when the Channel 9 coverage by GTV is so pathetic it's contemptible. I've always been of the view that promoting League in the Southern States is like trying to promote cricket in the USA. It's only the expats who take any interest and the natives don't wanna know about it. For Victorians it aint the game that involves poofs throwing tizzes and kicking a red ball into the crowd so they don't wanna know about it.

Mate wait until the never ending buckets of money that News ltd and the NRL toss into your club drys up, and you cant put teenagers on 100k contracts anympore. See how f**ken great your side is when they are put on a level playing field. Melbourne dominated jnr RL this year, won the under 20s and won the NRL... Sooner or later even the slowest of the slow will realise you guys are spending at least double on players to what any other side is doing, outside of your top 25 that is, so put away your ego. Left to fend for yourselves you'd be last every year, and will be.

The Lord Mayor was on the news tonite. Look, I understand that its the job of public servants to talk up the success of the team and such but lets face it... we won't get 90K people to the MCG for an NRL GF. Why the f**k would people from up north come to Melbourne for a GF.

The only way it'd work is if the Storm were involved! I'm a Storm fan but for anyone to suggest that Melbourne would host the GF is just rubbish!
