If JDB is out who comes in?

Are you saying we shouldn't try? We have post after post about getting real quality in the backline, if we dont take part in the game then we'll never get the stars.

Roosters have Uncle Nick but we have Uncle Gordon and I am sure if he wanted to he could match any TPAs that Uncle Nick finds. The issue with that is does Uncle Gordon want to. There is no reason we cant compete on dollars, the big stumbling block for me is the "other" factors that will influence his decision.

Maybe we can get him, maybe we cant, but we should seriously be in the race and giving it our best shot.

Firstly Uncle Gordon proved he was a business lightweight by trying to swap the NRL advertising on regional TV stations for STGI debt.

Secondly, his son has been on the board forever and provides zero value in terms of bringing professionalism to the club.

Thirdly, if he has any wealthy mates, he has been unable to facilitate any meaningful TPAs.

Fourthly he tolerates the ineptitude of Mary as coach which leads me to think he has no real interest in improving the playing performance of our roster.

As for Mitchell, why would he leave a well run club that has a good coach and excellent playing roster to join STGI, which in contrast has an under u/6s coach and a board full of nepotistic dinasaurs?

Yep, this covers everything that’s wrong with SGI.

You nailed it.

Pursue Mitchell......yeah right!
With the departure of Widdop, we are well positioned financially to offer Mitchell a massive contract and we can also offer him the fullback position. We should already be sourcing a big TPA deal for Mitchell. He certainly is marketable.

If he was to leave, it is sounding like his family would like him to play for Souths.

I think Tom Turbo is off contract at the end of 2020 too. We should be looking to throw the kitchen sink at him.

I agree.

However, with the other 724 players you've asked Millward to sign this week, we had to sell our kitchen.

And this is what I was getting at, we wont get him because of factors other than money. If Gordon was serious he has the contacts to find the TPAs we need.

Forget the coach for a minute, you are now talking about the real problem the club has, the inept management and old boys influence.

But even given these issues we should still try to sign Mitchell. If we dont enter the race we have no hope of winning, remember Steven Bradbury.
