JUST ONE THING ABOUT THE WORLD

What would that be?

You're allowed ONE thing

You're allowed to explain why

It can be personal or global or anything in between - it can be utterly petty or totally profound

That no one in this world could murder.

If they were to try and kill someone, it would revert back on them.

I think I'd like to see a basic income introduced for all citizens. There are a heap of pros (simplify the welfare system, increase consumer spending, people no longer need to worry about automation, the government can lower the minimum wage, people can innovate without worrying about starving to death, etc)

And a lot of cons (cost, inflationary concerns, the current economy is probably a little bit driven by people worrying about starving) but I think those could be handled if we did commit to it.

It's not such a far out idea and I do think with time it's going to have to be looked at.

I'd love to vote for a bigger c**k, but I'm going to go with a World Wide epidemic that renders 95% of the Worlds population infertile

I think it would be really interesting to see how humanity would respond if most of us could not procreate.

How would our attitudes change?
Would we become less greedy?
Would we start loving our fellow citizens - like all of them, safe in the knowledge we can't get them up duff?
Would scientists strive to maintain a level of diversity among the stock still able to breed?
Would religious intolerance go into overdrive?
What would governments do, knowing that there are going to be fewer people in the future?
What would the Worlds economies do?
What would we do with the Worlds nuclear power stations?

I reckon this could be an amazing science fiction television series by the way

I reckon in that situation human society would completely break down, given we would be looking down the barrel of the extinction of the species, and if things went really pair shaped life in its entirety on this planet.

With the global population about to drop by 6 billion, most of what we take for granted would fall over pretty quickly. The internet and most forms of electronic communication would be f**ked inside of 50-100 years max, as would electrical grids, water and sewage infrastructure, oil refinery, etc. These would then in turn take out food production, modern medicine, education, entertainment, and it would be back to the pre-industrial revolution days in a hurry.

Essentially we'd regress back to the 1700s, but with much more horrendous weaponry in which to fight over the remaining resources, knowledge of how things used to be, and a loss of the basic skills most pre-industrial people had (farming and trades).

I would like to see a compression of wages across the board.

Why should Joe Blow, who works on the factory floor actually making the goddamn product for a company, get say $60000 pa, while some f**king bean counting numbat get 10x plus that for not knowing what Joe does or even be capable of performing his task.

The bean counter does not make money for the company per se, Joe does.

CEOs in this country are way overpaid by at least 50%.

The CEO of this country is either the Prime Minister or the Treasurer. The nation's economy is this biggest business there is! Yet the salary of CEOs of Telstra and the big banks are 10 to 20 times that of the PM or Treasurer.

Figure that one out!

Rant over....

For now.

An extra 15 mins in bed for me every day. That way I could stay up for an extra 15 mins every night.

i think ceo's of most big business worldwide are overpaid, and overpaid by a lot more than 50%. given joe hockey's great grasp of "poor people" in this country i'd also say he's being overpaid

:lol::lol:

i'd make it human nature to want to help rather than hinder or hurt other people. if we got rid of selfishness and were more interested in helping each other and looking after each other we'd have a better society. without the need to be superior or get to the top we wouldnt have the nasty backstabbing, lying and stealing which exists

Would our lifespans change.

If you want that to be your one thing you could change, then I'd go for it

It would be interesting to see how we'd behave as humans if we lived say 200 years of a healthy life, rather than 80.

We'd probably just end up with 150 year f**king mortgages

If safety equates to pregnancy, then yes
If safety equates to STD's then no. They'd wear condoms.

None of this "if I die, at least I live on in my children" bollocks for 95% of em

i don't think the human race as a whole would behave much differently.

my question is, if you knew a way to live to 200, would you tell everybody how to do it???
