The Shellharbour RLFC (Sharks) field a team in the JBC (Marlins). Shellharbour are a group 7 club, one of the oldest league clubs in the country - were originally a union club before league came to Australia.

I don't think many outsiders realise how strong League is down here. The Illawarra (really Wollongong) comp is quite rich and has lots of former NRL players involved (usually as coaches). Group 7 doesn't have the money or leagues clubs like the Wollongong comp, but still a great breeding ground none the less.

There's often talk of an "Illawarra Super League", a merger of the two comps. Orginally, the Steelers were to bring the two leagues together, with all financially supporting the Steelers. Recession, egos and politics put an end to that.

What is happening with Helensburgh? Are they getting any players from St George? I saw a table and they were coming last again.

The burgh get a few players now and then. Although when we do get them it isn't as good as expected. They dont get to train with us, so they turn up on game day and have to learn all the move and types of plays we have.
