I'm shocked by the amount of NSW born Queenslanders

Greg Inglis
Israel Folau
Sam Thaiday
Mick Crocker
Chris Flannery
Paul Bowman
Robbie O'Davis
Wayne Bartrim
Julian O'Neill
Billy Moore  (he's as queenslander as they come though)
Mat Rogers

any more?

Can someone explain Billy Moores origin. Born in Tenterfield, Moore represented NSW under-17s while in high school at Tenterfield. - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Billy_Moore_(rugby_league)

BTW to all NSW fans out there if I had a choice, I'd send someone like Inglis back to NSW. I dont give as sh*t if he supported QLD as a kid, hes from NSW. If a QLDer did what he did I'd go nuts. I'm a firm believer in state of origin and want more Queenslanders in the team.

Inglis should never have played for Qld. It's a joke. As for Billy Moore, he's from NSW but only just. He probably played plenty of football in Qld but obviously went to school in NSW so therefore played for the NSW 17s. You can see why he might consider himself a Queenslander, but why the feck Inglis plays for Qld is another matter. All of those others are fair enough as far as I know. Origin isn't about where you're born and neither should it be.

If your gonna send Inglis back you might as well send Issy back as well, he only moved to Brisbane when he was 15(?).

But oh well, bygones.

That's what I hate about the modern day Queensland selection policy. You can add Graham Lowe and Mick Hagan to that list. Lowe coached the Maroons in 1991-92 despite being a Kiwi born and bred. Hages was eligible for Qld on the basis of playing a handful of pre-season games for Wests Panthers in 1982.

I thought stealing players from across the border was what the whole 'State of Origin' concept was introduced for?

I'd rather lose 3 series in a row with proper Queenslanders than win 3 in a row with Inglis and co.

Fair enough people cant decide where they are born and sh*t happens, but now the more I think about it its a disgrace Inglis got to choose.

Exactly that. Artie Beetson was a legend, but whenever I see old footage of him in the NSW jersey, it looks wrong.

If the next Andrew Johns is playing in the Townsville comp and has always supported the Blues because his family came from NSW, that's nice, but I don't want him to play for our state. Because he just plain shouldn't be. It's 'State of Origin' not 'State of Choice'. In the case of people like Inglis it should be a situation of 'Play for NSW or you don't play Origin at all.' The question is, could the Maroons board show enough ticker to back this decision, knowing it was in the interests of the contest?

If they did, so what would it be?
We don't want Inglis to become the first player to wear both jerseys, because that should never happen. With Origin it damn well should be one or the other, and the concept should be taken in.

I'd want to see it happen regardless, as long as current players don't swap.

blah blah blah. I'm shocked that QLD has won more series then NSW even though NSW has about 75% of the players in the NRL.

About 75% of the Australian born players.

Players on the breadline are happy to continue on trying if they're close to home. It's more a matter of the fact that NSW offers more opportunities to fringe first graders the Queensland does because there's more teams who need to fill up their 25's. Alot of Queenslanders just end up getting a trade and playing in the QLD Cup part time. So in a certain aspect it is a matter of quality.

Well according to the QLD site (http://www.qrl.com.au/state_of_origin/maroons_eligible_players.php) there are 92 eligable QLD players in NRL squads.

Overall there are 400 NRL squad players so thats pretty much a quarter. Taking out the NZ players, maybe the real number would be closer to 65-70%

i see Queensland are claiming O'Dwyer

i wonder how many other NSWelshman are on that list?

he shouldn't be eligible to play for Queensland afaik

and Will Chambers is from the NT. how is he a Queenslander :?

Here we go again ... the old "Queensland is scamming the NSWers" chestnet.

Fair dinkum, if you NSWers were an orchestra you'd all be playing on the same string on the same violin.

Can we move on to something new?

Well I see they have missed Junior Sau and Richie Fa'aoso from the Knights who are both Qlders. I wonder how many more are missing from that list? :-k

If the shoe fits....

The shoe has been used so much it needs new tread.

I find it ironic that the state who has held the balance of power for so long in NRL (lion's share of Australian reps despite even-stevens in Origin, monopoly on grand final venue and majority of reps in positions of power in the ARL) still finds something to whinge about.

Take out Queensland winning the last few series and the whinging wouldn't be so loud and so consistent ... guaranteed.
