I was just wondering who in each ESL club was considered under the 3 foreign players rule

I know at the Wolves it's

Graham Appo
Nathan Wood
Brent Grose

What about all the other clubs? help would be great!

Appo's been cut by Wires in favour of Joey Johns.

Each club is allowed three quota players who tend to be aussies (but not always), except London and Les Catalans who will be allowed more.

Also the other clubs tend to have more aussies and new zealnders or pacific islanders who are exempt from the quota, do to passports gained through British parents or grandparents, or the Kolpak ruling (something to do with an EU legal case based on not excluding certain nationalities covered under a trade agreement from sporting team selections).

So it's really hard to tell who each club's official three quota players are, unless like Warrington they come out and tell you... Go to http://www.leagueunlimited.com/teamtemp.asp?ID=ESL and click on the team names - most of the aussie players should stand out to you? (A more updated and detailed version is in the works for next season.)

In terms of foreign players, Leeds have Marcus Bai, Ali Lautiiti, Chris McKenna, Andrew Dunneman and Willie Poching. Not sure which of those count on the overseas quota but isn't it currently five players in which case all are covered. If not, perhaps McKenna has an Irish passport.

Pretty sure it's three now, hence Warrington having to scratch Appo for Johns?

Most New Zealand/Pacific players don't count through Kolpak. So I'd say Bai, Ali and/or Willie are quota exempt at Leeds?

Leigh at a guess were: Craig Stapleton, Jason Ferris, Jason Kent and/or Robbie Mears?
Widnes probably were: Owen Craigie, Shane Millard, Aaron Moule and/or Julian (Jules) O'Neill? (With Brad Watts and Keiran Kerr taking over Craigie and Millard's spots.)

That's six clubs covered so far - well done!

Laws and regulations handed down by the RFL are of no importance to Leeds or Leeds fans. We always happily ignore them .

Wakefield:

Sid Domic, Semi Tadulala, Ben Jeffries, Julian O'Neill, Duncan Macgillivary, Column Halpenny, Michael Korkidas, David Solomona, Sam Obst.

Not sure how that works out to be 3 foreign players...

How come London are allowed to have so many overseas players? There are only a few poms in their entire team.

London get a special exemption as a "frontier" club, same will apply to Les Catalans - and Cumbrian clubs are trying to get a similar ruling in their favour.

For Wakey, Halpenny has an ancestral passport, and I'd imagine Solomona and Domic are exempt under the Kolpak rule? Anyone who has been living and playing here for four or more years (Tadulala, Korkidas?) could be close to residency, and hence also exempt. So three quota players most likely are Obst, McGillivary (only came in when O'Neill left for Widnes?), and Jeffries...?

Tadulala and Korkidas are kolpak and McGillivray has a British passport.Domic Jeffries and Obst are the quota players.

It's still criminal to have that many foreigners in the team.

Cheers. It does get a bit much when three becomes eight through all the loopholes...
