Does a fair or unfair fight hold any weight when penalties are handed out?

In the NRL obviously not, but its all quite random there seemingly. In the real world, yes. Think NSW king hit law, or assault charges where defenceless people are beaten up (group beating, elderly person etc).

Instigation is obviously playing a factor, see Walker being a dck and Satae sticking his elbow in the adams apple. Pretty sure if he had connected with anything half decent he would have got two weeks like Scott. Sin bin for throwing a punch and no further action fine imo unless connecting with a good one.

The injuries received obviously come into their calculations when determining a punishment. Scott got weeks for a punch, one of which fractured Walkers cheekbone and McCullough got a small fine. I just watched a replay of the punches and McCulloughs limp wrist probably put him at more of a risk of being injured then the Warriors player.

Considering most fights are hay makers which don't land, I think a fine for fighting is appropriate but make it heavier than $1000 odd.

McCullough just looked like a little kid who knew what he was about to do was wrong and he wasn't 100% hence the reason he threw those 'punches'.

When the refs are too soft to make a decision, place the player on report. The player gets suspended, but that doesn’t help the team the offence was committed against.
