Does anyone else hate this concept ? Or is it just me.
It's probably just you.

Anglo-saxon is a race and there'd be a massive outcry if someone wanted to form an anglo-saxon team for any sport in any country in the world.
It really doesn't interest me TBH and I agree with the people who say it's racist. darky v whitey.
But if Cliff Lyons was selected I'd be all over it.
Anglo Saxon is not a race
Hate the concept. It almost guarantees at least one big name injury a season
Unlike trials, test matches etc?
Trials and test matches have a clear purpose. The All stars game is a joke that benefits noone.
Benefits no one? Tell that to the thousands of kids in the learn, earn legend programmes.
While the 2 are linked, there is nothing stopping the programmes from running in the absence of the game so your argument does not hold up.
Neither does yours since the progammes could run without the game but they dont. Therefore those kids benefit from the game.
My argument was based on the fact the programmes could be run without the game so your comment makes no sense.
I didn't say they didn't benefit, I'm sure they did but Indiginous NRL stars don't need a game to visit regional communities.
True but its the game that gets them to do it. You think all those boys would be doing it without the game?? Some would but probably a minority.
Yes some would and even more would with some encouragement. Blokes like David Peachey, George Rose and Preston Campbell have spent a lot of time in these communities and it didn't take an all stars game to get them there. Most of them seem to put a pretty high priority on helping indiginous kids so I don't think it would take a lot of encouragement to get them out there. If they don't want to do it, forcing them to by selecting them for an exhibition game doesn't seem like the right way to go about it. There have been plenty of players, both indigenous and non-indigenous that have spent time working with kids in regional areas and more of it should be encouraged but I don't think the all-stars game is a worthwhile exercise. As others have mentioned, it puts players at an increased risk of injury for a game that means very little to most.
I agree that in a rugby league sense its pretty useless but I think your underestimating what this game means to indigeneous people, it definately meant a lot to Preston.
