Thought we mite need a seperate thread

On top of Friend missing the start of the season, Rusty Packer done his pec and is out for the 1st 8 rounds

One of the Lousi bros to take his place i presume

Ah f**k, had heard about Friend, not Packer, great start, reminiscent of our poor start to last season with injuries to props.

His pec? RLW are saying it's his bicep.

Either way, pretty shitty start already, but at least it's early so there can be a workaround, and I doubt these things just came up out of the blue.

Both Rapira brothers short term. Both Lousi brothers medium-long term. Friend and Package medium term. Question marks over Henry and Sjeika.

The Warriors are set to be without star halfback Shaun Johnson for the start of the NRL campaign after the Kiwi international hyper-extended his elbow in Saturday's trial win over Brisbane.
Johnson left the field midway through the second half of the 16-10 victory in Dunedin.
Scans on Sunday revealed the 22-year-old would miss three to four weeks - almost certainly ruling him out of his side's season opener against Parramatta on March 9.
Second-rower Carlos Tuimavave will be out for up to six weeks after breaking a bone in his right hand.

Well that's a lot better news than I was expecting about Johnson, I looked up recovery times for dislocated elbows on the net and came up with anything from 4-20 weeks, and scary stories of not having full use of the arm again. Next time I will just wait for the medical report I think.

do you think its just bad luck or something more deeper underlying these injuries?

the # of injuries is getting ridiculous. its like their bodies are not use to full contact or something?

or the players dont know their physical limits and pushing too hard or doing things they shouldnt do - eg sticking your arm out to get pulverised like Johnson this weekend.

i mean like wtf is going on here?

Mara and Seijka should be ok for round one though right?
Wonder if Elliott would play Mateo at 6...

It is weird isn't it, maybe the after effects of a physically sloppy season last year? The off season training might not have been enough to undo a full year of slacking off.

Mr. Jennings, our new trainer, does have a history of lots of injuries to teams he's trained. Penrith hardly ever fielded a top 17 while he was there. I'm of the opinion that while he's great at working players really hard, he's not so good at the recovery side of things.

Elliot was on RadioSport before rubbishing this report, saying nothing is known as yet & questioning where the media got their info from. However, someone from the RadioSport news team was also claiming that the info came directly from the Warriors, so who knows.
