St George Illawarra can provide the following injury updates on Dragons duo James Graham and Tim Lafai.

Follow up scans with Graham on Monday have revealed the England international has suffered a fibula fracture. The estimated return to play will be approximately eight weeks post-injury.

Scans have confirmed Lafai suffered an injury to his syndesmosis; however further meetings and discussions with specialists on Tuesday are required to determine the course of action and prognosis.

The Dragons will provide a further update on Lafai in due course.

Graham and Lafai were both injured in the first half of the Dragons' 22-9 loss to the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks on Sunday afternoon.

Graham to miss two months in Dragons blow
16x9_medium

James Graham will miss eight weeks in the NRL after an ankle injury he picked up against the Sharks. (AAP)

St George Illawarra have suffered a significant blow, with a fractured fibula ruling James Graham out for two months of NRL action.

Struggling NRL club St George Illawarra have been hit with a double injury blow with co-captain James Graham and centre Tim Lafai ruled out for up to two months.

Inspirational forward Graham left the field with an injured ankle in the defeat to Cronulla, with the Dragons confirming on Monday that scans had revealed a fractured fibula.

Similarly, Lafai also sustained an ankle injury in the match which was later diagnosed as a syndesmosis sprain.

The club said of Lafai that "further meetings and discussions with specialists on Tuesday are required to determine the course of action and prognosis."

Syndesmosis injuries typically require a recovery period of six-to-eight weeks.

The dual losses come as a bitter blow for the Dragons, who have lost five consecutive games and slipped to 13th on the ladder after their 22-9 loss to the Sharks.

They are already without playmaker Gareth Widdop (shoulder) until August, while their NSW forward Jack de Belin's future is still in limbo after being suspended through the NRL's no-fault stand-down policy because he faces an aggravated sexual assault charge.

What about injury to fans?

FMD!

Foot towards TV screen = hammy, back, neck and our poor old dog shitting himself in the lounge room. Missus had to intervene in the middle of her recorded Ellen shows - which I’m still paying for!

I’ll be out for a week or so.

Phase 2 of the coaches injury excuses incoming in 5,4,3........

The worst thing about these injuries is not losing the players. It is the fact that they keep getting more significant. You and I know the rot started at this club long before injuries hit us but they will save McGregor's bacon for another year. Fact is, it is now a nasty looking list of unavailable players.

If "they scored all their tries from kicks" gets him in the clear as an excuse for loses, then this is a ready-made out for him. It will cloud people's judgement about how bad we actually are.

Injuries were not the reason for our slump 4 years running but it will be you and I, the informed Dragons critics, who are announced loonies for continuing to suggest McGregor is sacked on the back of such pathetic, heartless performances. Disgraceful coach.

St George Illawarra can confirm that Dragons centre Tim Lafai will be unavailable to play for approximately six weeks.

While it was determined that Lafai had suffered a syndesmosis injury earlier in the week, follow up scans and specialist consultations were required to determine the return to play time frame.

News of Lafai's layoff comes as the Dragons confirmed on Monday evening that front-rower James Graham will approximately miss the next two months due to a fibula fracture.

Graham and Lafai were both injured in the first half of the Dragons' 22-9 loss to the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks on Sunday afternoon.

Not only does the media protect McGregor and avoid criticizing him, they are now turning on the St.George faithful.
So somehow, 5 years of mediocre performances after a farcical appointment of McGregor as head coach, is the fault of the fans.
We should be more grateful and understanding of the career coach?
I say take a long hard look in the mirror and ask yourselves if you are being objective and professional journos trotting out this kind of nonsense.

Talking of injury updates it has been a week and a half since our little buddy West Coast Dragon went in for serious surgery.
I really hope he came through OK and if anyone has anyway of finding out it would be great to know.
Maybe we should have a roll call thread where people who we haven't heard of for a while can be listed and hopefully some who know them might be able to provide an update.
I really miss Grand Orient, Wittenberg (No disrespect your Wit) and some of the others guys.
Some of us are getting on a bit and it would be good to keep track of the older one's.

I tell you BSE's, that coach of ours is playing havoc with our health.
If only the club knew how many members of this forum were crocks and cared about us, they would book us all in for some R & R on some far away island with complimentary deck chairs by the pool and gin & tonics on call.

Great news,
Just received a PM from West Coast Dragon and he has come through OK and is lying low for a few days.
He still has another surgery to go through but is in good spirits despite the gruelling time he is having with illness.
Hopefully our team can show the same amount of bottle on Monday.
Anyway hopefully WCD can start posting in a few days.

OT,
When we hear news like that, whatever the result in footy, pales into to insignifance.
Thanks for the post.
WCD, no need to make a post, just cruse on by and when the time is right, tell McIdiot to get stuffed!
