Here you go, no more excuses about injuries. 3 teams had more injuries and still could make the Top 8...

Are the 16 games out injured by Mitch Moses equivalent to Jonah Pezet’s 16 games? This very simple count of missed games is deceiving. If you’re looking for a meaningful heuristic, try a count of players who played 20+ games. The 20+ is arbitrary. If you don’t like it choose a similar number, but apply it to every club.

Pfft, the Roosters got theirs in key positions at the backend.

Those stats were compiled by the work experience kid. The significance and timing of the injuries should be weighted.

Yep poor Trent Barrett deserves massive credit he had more injuries to deal with then what Brad "Sir Alex" Arthur had in 4 years.

What about the games Munster and Papenhuyzen both missed, are they comparable?

Sure but the fact the Roosters got their key injuries so late in the season will hurt them in the finals, while ensuring they still finished very high on the ladder. The Chooks are paying nearly $3 this weekend. Crazy for the team that finished with the best points differential.

Perhaps the stupid Storm actually has a top 30 roster signed for such an outcome, we were far too smart to do that.
We used 31 players and they used 33:

Neither club had a full top 30 because it doesn't matter. Storm had 29 and we had 28: https://www.nrl.com/news/2024/01/01...r-latest-signings-news-contracts-and-details/

So we used three players from outside our top 30 and the Storm used four from outside theirs. Like I said, it doesn't matter. The extra players used were shit enough for the bottom of the top 30. Outside your top 20-25, everyone else is break glass in case of emergency.

How many did the Storm use before Round 26 when they rested players?

The answer is that it doesn’t matter. Players outside the top 30 who are picked in first grade are as good as top 30 players who aren’t. For example, Seve and Tonumaipea were both top 30 and got their only run of the year in that Cowboys game. Otherwise they were overlooked in favour of Anderson and Bradley, players outside the top 30. So it was with non-top 30 players Moretti, Guymer, Sanders and Arthur. Why does it matter if they are top 30 or not? They are just backups. Top 30 status is an arbitrary distinction.

it matters because we had to draft players from a third tier competition into the squad....the 2 players from Melbourne you mentioned are actually NRL experianced players...and please! don't compare us to Melbourne, their talant Identification is that superior to us it's actually embarresing.

Both already had reserve grade experience, and both played well there for us. They were too good for RM Cup.

So is Morgan Harper but somehow he was the worst depth signing we could have made. Would we have preferred Seve or Tonumaipea in our top 30 instead?

Should I compare us to Wests? In that case you merkins have even less to whinge about.
