Molo has not trained for two weeks, so I suppose yes he did. But that just puzzles me even more. Wouldn't that make him more willing to sign Lodge (who in my opinion is better than Molo)?

Seems we have plenty more work to do in order to get the attitude right.

Training standards have no doubt gone up this off season, with the arrival and now leadership of Cookie & Gutho. For one reason or another, Frank is not on the mountain or the sand dunes.

We only want players here who want to be here. It's going to hurt us, especially as we're already thin up front.

But...

There was also a time when it was all doom and gloom because we sent Gorden Tallis packing. Didn't we make the Grand Final that same season? This was also a time when the club actually stood for something. Glad to see us trying to get back to those times, albeit slowly.

As you all know I am a supporter of Flanno & feel sorry for him, since taking over the Dragons he had the sook Hunt to deal, Volkman, Cory Allen then an ungrateful & egotistical Lomax. Move forward 12 months & some very good signing a few misses (basically his doing) & now Molo. this is a massive challenge for the NRL. How can they continue to let these so called professionals leave contracts after they have signed them because of greedy managers or players that have no integrity. A big challenge for not only the Dragons but the NRL ahead if they give a stuff because it is not one of their favoured clubs.

Agreed - this is a huge problem.

If we read into what has been written in the media about this... Frank doesn't have a problem with Flanno. I refuse to take on another 'Lomax excuse' that it's the club management, because they have very little to nothing to do with the day-to-day running of the football operations (that's Flanno's job).

So, where is the issue? Is it Gutho and the way he is delivering his message to the forwards from the back during training drills (which lets not beat around the bush here - this is the kind of tough love that's been needed in our team for long long time now)?

Other than this... there is only one other thing - and that is either another club, via a mate of his at said club, has been in his ear about a spot being available for him there and now he's stamping his feet.

Yes, this crap of leaving contracts has to stop (and this goes for both the players + managers & the clubs too).

Let’s wait and see that it’s not a serious mental health issue. Let’s assume the club will hear him out. I’m ok with him leaving if we get a suitable replacement who wants to be here. I’m also ok with him taking a year off to get his shit together(not paid of ocurse), I’m just not ok with players breaking contracts with no compensation (and I feel the same in reverse)

With the Lodge situation, it may have been less about money and more about attitude. I reckon SF wanted someone who was grateful and desperate to prove their worth but he didn't see that in Lodge.

I think Frank really does have genuine mental health issues, exactly how/when/who was involved in him wanting a release I dont know.. it could be as simple as him wanting to move back home.. it is what it is.. but sounded like from the fan day that he is gone.. so I guess onward to see who we can jossle free to replace..

As for Lodge, if I was him @29.5yrs old.. this could be his last contract.. cant blame him for wanting it to be a decent amount and probably 3yrs... also has a family up on the northern beaches.. whether he moves to the Gong or the UK.. either way.. as long as he gets a pay cheque to set him up for post-football.
