I've never seen GoT (Facebook memes ensure I know what GoT is, but that is all)...and I have no idea how this mafia goes down even if I knew what GoT was all about, anyway...

It's pretty easy to get the hang of mafia. It's basically an informed minority competing against an uninformed majority. The uninformed (town) are trying to find and vote out the informed (mafia), who are able to kill one town per night.

As far as the theme goes, it tends to be more cosmetic. The actual game itself remains the same.
