Two penalties in quick succession against the Dogs. Are the refs finally getting it?

The obligatory "sudden enforcement of rules that we hitherto couldn't be arsed enforcing" period has begun. Just in time for the run into the finals.

I'm glad they started penalising it (even more so that it was the dogs getting penalised) but it will probably go back to not being penalised next week.

I love how people have begun to talk about the refereeing as if it's some commodity to be bought or earned to help teams win. BULL. f**kING. SHIT.

Referee the game fairly and to the rules. No arbitrary square ups, no going to sleep in the last 10 minutes, no scratching the back of a certain expansion club because it's an expansion club. The rulebook is there for a f**king reason.

They did the same thing for Cowboys not long ago. They penalised an opposition player for interference despite not changing his line. Pretty much he was effectively penalised for not changing his line to let the Cowboys go through untouched.

Then it goes out the window again for a few more weeks until they decide Broncos are the next random team to benefit from the crackdown that lasts one game.

The issue here is the inconsistency. This shit happens in every game yet the referee only decides to penalise it once every few weeks when he feels like it... and the times he does punish it tend to be nowhere near as deserving of a penalty as about 20 other incidents in the same weekend.

Crackdown across the board. Or revert to how it normally is. Doing it so randomly will fix nothing.

Wish they called it every time, watch it happen a million times to tupou tonight and not get called.

They did it against the Dogs to test the water . . . not many will complain if a team that is in self-destruct mode will be made an example of

I thought the second penalty, against Reynolds, was very unfortunate considering that the Broncos had taken their advantage. Once Pearson dropped the ball cold over the line it they shouldn't have been given a second bite of the cherry through a penalty.

You really think the Knights won't get penalised?

Maybe, but they'll definitely penalise the Roosters if they do it...... er or not

The Storm will do it 500 times to Canberra on Saturday and the referees will agree with Cameron, that there was no interference and play on.

The knights have it bad against the refs lately while you guys are a coin flip. Either they'll get ripped off or you both will depending on the mood of the ref.

It's all about Origin.
They let everything go out the window during Origin because 'it's the toughest game you'll ever play' and they want 'players to decide the result, not the refs.'

Now that Origin is over, rules are policed as they should be and everyone is shocked.
Happens every year.

They haven't policed running chasers off the ball in three years

Yeah, they have been hard done by. It happens at the bottom for some reason
I like the Knights and have been willing them to win one for weeks. Such a gallant bunch

Other than the sheer embarrassment factor of losing to them, I will be genuinely happy for them if SKD scores 5 tries and the Knights win tonight

Not rocket science, all a blocker has to do is be completely motionless by the time the blockee gets to him, doesn't matter if he does a f**king somersault to get into position . . . has to be one of the easiest 'incidents' to adjudicate

Origin takes it a step further with the referees deciding if it would really have made a difference

This is how it is supposed to be.

Unfortunately refs can't even get it right most of the time.
