interim coach - Carr?

6. Sloan.
Are you affected by a foreign matter.
I back the Old Timer view that the current attacking games of Amone and Sloan are trashed with Hunt at half. Sloan has far better ball skills than both Hunt and Amone so 5/8 is a good fit for him. Currently he can be found sniffing around the ball carrier but does not get his hands on it as much as he'd like unless he goes into dummy half. He will in the halves and you can guarantee he will feed our backs more often and with cleaner ball. With Sloan at 5/8 I'd like to see Lomax given a crack in his spot. But where to put Amone.

I think the selection of Amone in the halves is him trying to give Amone a chance to see how he performs without Hooks instructions. It also means Hunt gets to play his natural dominating halfback role which is a bit of an olive branch from Carr towards Hunt. I think if Sullivan is selected in the halves then Hunt has less control which he doesn't like. Sullivan on the bench also explores his effectiveness at dummy half.

Eventually I hope Sullivan get a solid block of games in the halves because to me he has all the hallmarks of a gun half. This is dependent on opportunity & luck with injury.
I agree. Also, he might be keeping hunt at halfback so he doesn't throw a hissy fit. It might be just to keep the ship stable for a bit in what has been a strange week for players.

Anyone catch the pre game interview "Ummm yeah nah umm you know ummm" and this blokes going to be out coach I could only get through 2 minutes painful.
I listened to the whole interview and I thought Carr spoke well after a bit of a nervous start. The journo's questions were a bit lame, but Carr answered all with composure. Better than the previous previews anyway.

Wow, I came in here to comment on what a breath of fresh air his interview was, I thought he handled a difficult interview very well.
He said everything I was hoping to hear anyway, stop focusing on the result, focus on the process, enjoy the footy, remove the pressure.
It’s clear under Hook they’ve been so focused on not losing, now it’s time to play some footy and the results will come.
I guess we see it differently, your “painful” for me was refreshing.

We have to give the man a chance, yes he was nervous to start off with but considering the week they have had and the questions being put to him, he had to make sure nothing could be misconstrued and totally throw Hook under the bus. He wants what we want for the team, enjoy yourselves and play for the club and eachother. Perfect !!!

What's my point a coach needs to be a good communicator saying umm yeah nah every third word shows a clear lack of verbal communication skills.

Why are you so sensitive though are you Ryan Carr?
To be fair cmon.. Ist interview as a coach and he is only a fill in + the boring media focussed on everything except the game
Yes he brought the normal cliches but give hin he go
he answered all questions and did not get rattled
He had to be careful what he said to some of those leading questions so a bit of a pause or Um (while thinking) is really OK ATM

I've made it no secret I'm not sold on the bloke, however I'm willing to see how we perform under him on the field tonight is a big test, I haven't watched a game since the Scumterbury loss but I may make an exception tonight.

I'm sceptical obviously as I think many on here are just drinking the Kool aid of anyone is better than Hook, mid season changes can be great but they can also be extremely damaging. Sharks in 2014, tigers in 2022 & Brisbane in 2020 all spring to mind but time will tell let's hope it's a good one GO YOU DRAGONS!!!!

To be honest I wasn't overly impressed with Carr's press interview. He was reasonably articulate but I didn't think the content was particular inspiring. The BODs are all on the same page, the players are all on the same page, Hunt is happy to do the best for the team. Concentrate on the process, only worry about what you can control and only focus on the next game.

This was not an interview of a man giving his real views.
