Internet not loading some websites...

Ok so I'm not the most tech-savvy guy....

For the last week or so my computer has been unable to load some pretty basic sites (like smh.com.au, news.com.au etc) while having no problems loading others (like LU for instance). Others again will only partially load(espn.com)

It will just take ages and ages and then a page saying "oops this link appears to be broken" will display. I have the google toolbar installed and it's under a google heading that this page displays and in the top right corner it says "page not found - connection failure"

At first I thought it was my connection, but I've been able to download videos, stream videos, download music etc etc without too much lag so I don't think it's that. And if it was connection, why would only some websites be affected?

I cleared my temporary files after I started having this issue but that did nothing, and that's been the extent of my attempt to troubleshoot the problem.

Any help would be appreciated.

At a guess, I would say some sort of Spyware. Try to go to a few of the Anti Virus sites and see if they work. If not, I would say its a sure bet that you've picked up some sort of Spyware along the way. If you have some sort of Anti-Spyware on your system, you should update it and run it to see if that picks up anything. If not, I suggest you go and download Spybot or Ad-aware (they are free) and give either one of them a run.
