Always loved watching him play.
He put his heart and soul into every game.
I'd rate him one of Penrith's greats

He threw the money ball for the critical try in our first Grand Final win, and then the final pass in the winning try. He made the Panthers Team of Legends and the team picked on this forum. He is a club legend, no risk in the world.

Probably one of the most aggressive defenders ever to play the game and quite handy in attack when he put the foot on the right pedal. In the top 10 Panthers of all time in my humble opinion.

I beleive the big man is possibly our greatest player just because of the fear factor that he brought to the opposition, the noteriety from his stoush with wally lewis and many other headlines he brought to the club (good and Bad) including the sin binning in the GF and then nearly single handingly winning the thing. No one wanted to run at him including Peter Jackson-Spud Carroll-Lazo- Cameron Blair and especially Adrian Toole he smashed them all...unfunately for him after THAT 91 SOO game his passport was stamped in SOO and Tests a pity especially when you consider his brother played as many SOO as he did "Go Figure"

I would say that defending next to MG in the line would be the worst place to defend. Opposition player gets a head of steam up, has a sneak peak and diverts their line straight at you. MG didn't have to make many tackles, because everyone was too shit scared to run at him.

As well steaming on to the short drop out in the lead up. That 10-15 second passage is perhaps the most iconic moment in the club's history, maybe only surpassed by the Sattler tackle in '03.

It's all subjective.

I know I harp on about this, but I go to the footy to be entertained. All sides need balance, and need work horses that aren't that flashy, but at the end of the day, I think we all like to watch players like Brandy, Freddy, Izzard, Jennings, Wesser, Campbell etc in attack, and blokes like MG, Gillmeister (yes Gilly player for the Panthers) Kelly, Plum and Docker when we are defending. Yes Docker is an entertainer when he's not sitting on the dock of the bay wasting time.

Of course MG is one of our greats.

Roy & H.G. called him "The Tap"...Either he was off or on....hot or cold.

But what MG did in that grand final, the team as a whole when he was off for 10 minutes, and when he came back,Roycies two tries, the overall desperation and excitement of the occasion, the greatest grand final team try eventually scored by Brad Izzard and you have the greatest grand final of all time.

People only pick the '88 Tigers V Canberra GF as the greatest as a way for the Tigers players and fans of getting over the two straight losses in the 1988-89 grand finals.:-({|=

And in that game, there was nothing to compare the excitement of the 1991 grand final...or any for that matter.
