the RSL salary cap works out to be around $4.5m australian due to the exchange rate, clubs like Wigan, Leeds and Bradford can throw around more money to keep there stars rather tan letting them come to Australia.

Sean Rudder the newcastle 5/8 not excatly past it is on his way to Castleford next season.

the only good point he make are reducing aussies to 3 a side. he also has a point about crowds. why are they so bad. it seems only st helens wigan and bradford get ok crowds. i don't like the guy i think he's an absolute dickhead.

crowds are smaller at RSL games for soe clubs due to them being based in towns not cities i.e. Castleford

That was the worst crowd of the season by quite a margin. He suggests there only a few better, but that's a lie.

Saints (I think), Hull, Wigan, Bradford and Leeds all average five figure averages. There's a bit of a drop to Warrington, Castleford, Widnes, London and then a big drop to Wakefield. Halifax only attracted a phone queue, but Salford are taking their place next season.

In full agreement about this Hadley idiot. He's basing his assessment on one game where the home team only won once all season and had by far the lowest home attendance figures and the away team has the smallest number of travelling support in SL (due to location). Plus it was on the telly!

Colin Best is anything but past it, he's only 24 and had a great season for Hull this year scoring 19 tries in Superleague. Appo was also outstanding for Warrington.

As for dropping the quota, we are. Next year it goes to 4, the year after to 3. The only problem is that while we can restrict overseas players like this, we cannot apply these rules to anyone who can get a British passport, hence the abundance of non-quota players. EU legislation prevents us from barring these players from employment in the UK.

Finally, IIRC Morley took a pay cut to go and play in Oz. He's probably on more now he's proved himself but would no doubt get a bigger contract with an SL club. In general British stars have to be prepared to lose out financially if they want to play in the NRL. Chris Thorman turned down a great deal at Hull to play for the Eels at a much lower price.
