Is C Rathbone too fragile?

Looking at C Rathbone, I tend to think that the guy is way too fragile. Union wingers seems to be bigger and taller and stronger than previous wingers. True Clyde scored three tries the other game (2 ordinary and one great try), however now that the opposition knows of his skilles he has become a greater target. The last game (for me anyway) was an indication of his effectiveness in the position.

I'd have to agree. Is Gerrard much bigger, because I thought he looked just as good as Clyde, if not better.

I think he will be closely watched as we now know what he can do but I don't think he is to fragile. Look at Christian Cullen the guy was no bigger than Rathbone but was fantastic on attack. But once they knew what he could do he was marked allot closer and given less room to move. Same goes for Jason Robinson.

I don't think so. Look at the NZ outside backs, only Umanga is particularly big. Rockocoko's tall but he isn't massive, and both Daniel Carter and Doug Howlett aren't big at all.

And since when are South Africans soft?

Well whoever the wannabies had last night on their wing wouldn't have made a difference

Gerrard won't be back for 3 weeks at least so don't worry about him for the next match. I tend to like Rathbone over Sailor. I mean his defence is much better.

Look at Saturday- Rathbone went off, Sailor came on and what happened, the All Blacks score the match winning try!!!!

When Gerrard comes back, Sailor will be gone and thank goodness!!!

NZ versus Aust only proved my point of Rathbone being fragile........a couple of tries in his first outing and he's portrayed as a great winger. There are much better wingers especially OS and even in Australia.

lockyno1 I tend to disagree with you on the sailor issue. I doesnt matter how good in defence you are, its still very slim to stop a try in a three on one situation, especially close to the line.

Ill wait till the next game to see how Rathbone stands up.....if he gets injured again ill start calling him glassy rathbone.

I would not have cared if Salior stayed on his wing, but no the idiot makes the decision to come in.

The main rule for wingers is to trust your inside men. Salior did not do that did he!!!

it was 3 on one.........NZ nearly scored near the post, australia tried to stop them from scoring and compressed their defence. This left the left wing exposed (creating a 3 on one situation). Staying on the left wing makes no difference....theres still two unmarked on the inside.

Everyone hates Big Dell

I think Rathbone has just had an unlucky couple of games. I mean he copped a coconut head to the face and a couple of high shots. They'd do similar damage to "Big Dell" or Lote. Stick with him.

Ok tonights game Rath didnt get injured, I for one was surprised. Although he got a try his game was far from adequate. Why less than adequate? 1)allowed the first try 2)blown a try in the first half 3) intercept in clydes side (although not so much his fault it does show a general lack of sting in the defence in his side) 4) missed a couple of tackels and 5) was turned around- this resulted in SA try.

So although rath had 2 breaks and a try his overall game was generally a disapointment. Bring in Sailor and lest see what he can do. Although Sailors a bit slow now his defence and attack (minus the kick) IMV is far superior than Rath.

I would like to add my name to the list of 'Big Dell' haters.

I hope he never gets the spot back from Rathbone, who I thought had a more than reasonable game this evening, and just fades....away.....

Rathbone is crap...Aussies media make a habit of promoting the merits of average players like Dogbone when he is just a hack !!!...Sailor is even more crap and it is obvious that union is way too technical for him !!.

i tend to agree with you there mate......BTW is Rathbone REALLY an Aussie? Rat hasnt really shown me anything apart from being able to stay in the wing and catch the ball. One try that did impress me was (i think) his second try in his first game. Lote on the other hand can break through tackes, get off the wing and be effective, a great jumper and a great kicker.
