Is defense our biggest issue?

Either McKendry or Grant would improve our pack. Would love both. Tough and uncompromising.
Wish league had a trade system.
Surely no coin to buy either.

Yeah I think we should take a run at Grant or maybe James Graham if we have the coin. To be honest though we really need to go after a back rower

Desperately need a high quality backrower. Actually two.
Moses' body looks like 18 months or 2016 before ready for first grade.
Need a quality five eight solution for 2015 I reckon.

Agreed. Moses would have to be brilliant to warrant trying to hide him on the wing in defence. He would get eaten alive defending at 6 as he is.

We have a 5/8 in Austin who scored 3 tries and kicked a 40/20 in his first game for the club. I've backed Potter thus far, but if he doesn't have the balls to give Anasta the boot then maybe he's not the right man for the job after all.

We score 24 points but unfortunately the opposition wander through the centre and put on 44 points. Mediocre attitude has been the norm for far too long together with too many plodders leading to giving away silly penalties.

To me Potter is on the mark here. Giving away too many penalties and finishing our sets poorly are the 2 biggest issues.

He also mentions Robbie and that some of the last play options he came up with were poor and that it is the halves job to boss Robbie around not the other way around. He even stated Robbie has the ability but it was the wrong option at that time.

Where are the majority of penalties conceded?

To me it seems a hell of a lot are in the ruck when we are defending...therefore that is a defensive problem, not discipline

Its a fair point however I don't know where one ends and the other one starts. Giving away penalties makes us defend more. Poor plays when we have the ball make us defend more. If you miss tackles it makes defending hard because you are on the back foot and that leads to giving away penalties.

I still think though that if we get our attack right which means good sets when we have the ball and we minimise the dumb penalties we will be able to defend a lot better. Our forwards need to get on top but then the key players especially the halves and Robbie need to take the right option and execute well when we have the ball. Robbie is critical to this team because he is a big part of getting us going forward as well as taking the right option at critical times.

Yeh its a bit blurred, and a vicious cycle to an extent....but even good plays end up in the opposition gaining possesion eventually...its usually fairlyeven possesion
Good last tackle options can lead to the oppositions attack being under pressure, especially if their sets are not started well on the front foot
