Is Dylan Napa worth a look at?

I know, I know. He's had an ordinary couple of years, but who hasn't at the Dogs? He is only 28, you would like to think he could get the fire back and add some starch to our pack. Is a judiciary risk though. Thoughts fellows?

Geez that’s a tough one but we do need another big body up front. Has lost a leg since the roosters days but would be cheap and not a bad option off the bench. Not really much out there so for say 300 I’d take the risk. I’m assuming I’m in the minority in here and most will disagree with Napa being signed

They've replaced Napa with Vaughan, so yeah why not, he's certainly better than some of the others we've got now. He's tough enough, as long as he can stay on the field

Test his fitness and include some behaviour clauses in his contract. He has to be better than at least 3 of the props that played for us this year.
I agree. Perhaps some shadow boxing is a good way to test fitness?

Would ensure no injuries to him, whilst also proving a way to see how excited he would be to join us..

Yup, I echo these sentiments, though much prefer Gold Coasts aching foot.

Considering the cheapies out there I’d take Napa over Woods every single day

Woods is maligned but he is one of the hardest props to pull down… ie plays the ball quicker than most props. Our slowness out of dummy half most of the season contributed to us getting tailed most games.

Especially golden point as an example. We get in range and some slow fat forward is trying to get up like he’s in quicksand. Woods is still standing most of the time in tackles. We lose far more GP games than we win.

Napa has lost a lost of grunt at the dogs, and has been a suspension liability. Something we don’t need either of.

I’d take Woods over Napa if I had to choose either.

It seems forwards are like pawns in chest
You need a good supply of them to get the work done
then the satrs can run the trys in.
Loosing Vaughn (we just should of suspended him for the season)
was a gap that need to be filled.
Collectively our forwards ar weak - at best
WE don't have the up front cattle to get the job done successfully.
22 will look a lot like 21, 20, 19, 18.... and so on.
THese young guys might be swift and whatever
But the Melbourne forward (as an examople) alone will eat St.George Illawarra for breakfast.
As unbias as possible - there is no light at the end of the tunnel.
Waiting money on slow hookers and the like.
Indiana Jones - You have chosen poorly (AGAIN)

With a vaccine passport I'll be too busy to even bother with saints in 22 anyway

Some players, particularly forwards, lose their x factor and never perform as well.It is not just a age thing . Due to the toughness of the game most players can only have so many injuries & hits before they lose that little bit extra effort that got them there in the first place.Add to that whilst sitting on a very nice contract that sets them up for life and the stimulus to perform is not what it used to be. We have seen this with Vaughan & Simms ( and to a lesser extent Frizzell ) and they don't intimidate opposing sides like they used to.
Young players have got a lot to aspire to such as representative games & big money contracts. They are driven to achieve this, so just go out there and just rip & tear. You will only see it in true champions like Tulomolo that can sustain high performance over a long period of their career's. Sure , a former champion at discounted rates provides experience and a big body , but with too many in a side you get the Dragons ! A long way of saying no to Napa but we need forwards without too much mileage under the belt and fire still in their bodies & hearts.

I mean, we signed George Burgess so Napa is probably worth a look depending on what $$ are involved etc
