Ryles should get untill rnd 12 2027 in my books.
If 2026 we finish bottom 4 and rnd 12 2027 we are in bottom 6 then I'd be considering future options. Great win against the Broncos but let's not overreact. Let's see how we go against the Storm.
Hopefully a little better than last time? That first half of Rnd 1 was very deflating.

We have Moses this time and they have Hughes missing,Nelson and maybe Pappy.
Now if we can break Grants legs early we are a punchers chance.
Riley will be much better this time around given he started on the bench last time and it was also his first game.
Our first round match included,
Iongi, first game and very tentative.
Zac in the centres. Ouch!
Tago ffs!
Drown who was in an absolute depressed mood early.
Volkman.
Joe O who was only good for daking ppl this year.
Hands started.
Kelma was at his defensive worst.
Hopgood who hadn't had a preseason and was diabolical early.
I'm expecting a .massive effort from our boys. A win is certainly not out of the question.

Never wanted Benny, done nothing since 2012 and way past his useby date and I said that at the time we were hunting for a new coach.

Much happier with Ryles.

Think Ryles is cooking - doing a great job. I'm really enjoying the style of footy we are playing, so much more enjoyable to watch than the last few years of one-out, kick, rinse, repeat. We don't seem to drop our bundle, camaraderie seems good. Like the way he handles the media. Had a horror run this year with injuries and suspensions. Do wonder if we would have won a few more this year with Matto/Carty-Party's experience, but long-term think we will benefit from those calls. Think 2 decent signings and we are right in it. He would have to be given to end of 2027 before any sort of talk of getting rid of him starts...or we give him the keys to the city then.

I'm more interested in why or how carty and matto didn't buy into Ryles system.

JR said he wants effort in training and maybe matto is the type i only do so many minutes because that's what's best for my body.

Carty dunno. Ok I'm a carty fan and i reckon he couldve killed it playing in the middle like walker. In the ba era, he was one of the first chasers of kicks and would hit the guy hard so dunno how he lost his enthusiasm

Maybe they were told at the outset that they were'nt in Ryles' plans (normal for a new Coach). Not able to secure a comparable gig elsewhere, they decided to see out their contracts here. Why would'nt they?

A lot of merkins getting carried away with the win over the Broncos. We're sitting about where I expected early in the season. I'm liking where we're heading under Ryles. I'm seeing the rest of this year as full blown trial matches. Expect to be disappointed at times.

I agree he is definitely now genuinely a top flight half back who has proven his worth on the biggest stage … state of origin and he’s now done it multiple times. As you say though typical parra as while he has been strong for us we haven’t been able to 1/ keep him on the field and 2/ put a competitive side around him.
Fingers crossed the next few years it can all come together

It's funny you should say that.

On Saturday, I went to Henson Park for the Beer, Food and Footy Festival.
Beforehand, I met up with 16 other blokes/school mates at the General Gordon Hotel at Sydenham. Fans of all different teams.

There were Sharks, Manly, Tigers, Bulldogs, Dragons and of course Eels fans amongst us. All very passionate about their and our own teams.
The discussion turned to Origin, and why NSW lost.
Not one of any of those other teams' supporters thought Cleary should ever be selected ahead of Moses as NSW halfback.
Each and every one of them thought that Moses should be the first half back picked every year ahead of Cleary.
They all said the same thing - Cleary never show's up in rep games.

I found it interesting that so many other club's fans think the same as we do.
