Pittman may miss opening ceremony

Australian team officials says Jana Pittman may not march with the rest of the team at tonight's Commonwealth Games opening ceremony in Melbourne.
Pittman sparked fresh doubts over her fitness when she pulled out of her commitment to run in the Queen's baton relay in Melbourne yesterday.
Today team chief John Devitt conceded he was not sure if the hurdler would march tonight but said it was not compulsory for athletes to attend.
He said more than half the team was expected to turn out and those that did not were likely to be training or resting before events tomorrow.
"Some people are going training and it may be difficult to get back," he said.
"You've got to start to assemble about 4pm today ... and we'll get back around midnight - so you know it's a long day."
Pittman's women's 400-metre hurdles campaign starts on March 22.
