Is loyalty dead?

300 games is a lot for any player of the game, regardless of who they play for. I'm not sure it's a good basis for loyalty.

Laurie Daley played his whole 14 year career for the Raiders which equated to 244 games. The only player we have to crack 300 is Jason Croker (318) who played 16 seasons with the Raiders.

Getting off track a bit, but I still lol at John Morris being in the 300 club... I thought that guy retired when Tim smith went AWOL..
Could not name who he's played for since...

Salary Cap makes it harder to play at the one club you're whole career. This is nothing new which is why there have been some painful departures Matthew Johns (Newcastle), Petero Civoniceva (Brisbane) and Glenn Stewart (Manly).

I think we expect too much sometimes of players and clubs when it comes to loyalty. Thinking about the players age and what normal blokes are doing at that age - they are all changing jobs or uni/tafe courses and stuff, moving to different cities or even different countries, breaking up with partners and finding new ones. That's without even talking about money. So I guess the idea that a kid of 16 will sign with a club and not want to leave before he is 33 is a bit fanciful. People change their minds about all sorts of shit.

The flip side is that you can't expect a club to hold the same opinion of a player forever either. When an 18 year old gun becomes a 23 year old plodder, you can't expect the club to keep tossing him contracts no matter how loyal he wants to be.

Well we've got Sutton who is a chance at 300 games.

And the likes of Reynolds, Keary and Walker should be 300 game players if everything goes well in terms of cap management and injuries.

:lol::lol:

Keary, Reynolds and Walker are being mentioned in the 300 club for Souffs after f*ck all games. Brilliant :lol:

Manly have 300 gamers just around the corner too - Hiku, Hodges and Tafua :crazy:
