is our pack too big??

just an observation from the first few weeks of the season but does anyone else think that our pack might be a little big?

as far as i can see the only 80 min players in our pack are Sa and Jaub with fitzy able but probably getting a little old.

add to this ogre, FPN, Myles and Paea, shack and mason i think we are big man heavy and lack a few real work horses

with the speed of the game this season i think if we persist with this lineup we are going to keep getting done over up the middle by some of the faster more mobile packs.

I agree with you. Too big and too old. Not only is the game quicker but the refs keeping the teams 12-13 meters apart, rarely 10, didn't help matters either. A combo of fatigue and timing buggered a lot of opportunities last night. Never did the big guys manage to run on to a ball. Myles didn't have his best game and Fitzey was showing his age in the second half. Willie by my count, made 12 tackles and two of those were flops.

definitely. him and Paea just seems way off the pace.

we need some balance. maybe Maubs will move into the back row with williamson slotting into the centres.

now i can see why freddy was trying to slot braith into the pack.

will be interesting to see what changes we have for next week

I wouldn't say they are over the cap now, they have a fairly young team.

In some cases yes, unfortunately we lost our speediest forward last year, Sa is the lone ranger. I like the idea of moving Soliola and Aubusson up a bit.

I will spring to the defense of our big pack and say that the big-boppers need match fitness which may come after a few more rounds..

I am more concerned about the unity of the team and lack of game plan...

yes we do have and unduly large pack, unfit? im not so sure on that front, we are letting ourselves down by not valuing the ball, silly dropped passes and easy turn overs mean more defence, possesion is everything in the next enhancement of the game! A simpel look at match stats will prove that every winning team has the biggest share of possession, easy really dont drop it, score with it!:lol:
