Opinion Is Ricky Stuart the most overrated coach ever?

I believe Hodgson is carrying a significant sternum injury and a bung ankle
Which is limiting him impact considerably

The halves have regressed at an alarming rate, but as said, that's the coaches MO
Poaching Sezer . . . the gods have spoken

I can't see how Sticky is overrated, not by a full concensus anyway, most people rate him for what he is . . . it's only those who want him to be a supercoach doing the caterwauling

the money he gets paid by clubs to be their coach is one thing that makes him overrated

he'd be one of the highest paid coaches

Hodgson has been fine. He has always got a stupid play in him where he assumes everyone in the team can read his mind but he is injured and feels he needs to do all the play making.

I think he could have done with a full offseason/surgery but obviously he wanted to play for England which is fair enough

The problem is we made the finals last year on the back of BJ and Rapana playing ludicrous footy. Teams are shutting BJ down better this year and he is prone to stupidity.

Like obviously we had Hodgson and Papalii playing good footy and there were plenty of support players but there were plenty of times we looked lost in the opposition 20

Couldn't beat a depleted Bronco's team at home.
Give the overrated one an extension on the extension as he's showing how you can turn one of the pre season favourites into a massive failure and showing us why you own the overrated tag.
Give us at least 1 "I've got 17 boys in there hurting" in the presser.
Come on Walt, give us your latest excuse for him.

I dont think poor Walt will or can defend this...

If it is between BJ and Austin at this point id rather keep BJ.

I will give you guys an example of what i believe makes stuart an average coach. (I would still keep him in some kind of phil gould role. He has done a lot of good here)

I watched a lot of parra when it was rumoured we were after paulo and i saw a big bloke with a decent passing game. When he came to us he was still a big bloke with a decent passing game. We did some good things with that too last year but he was still a prop. His work against the panthers where he was like a homing missile at young Cleary almost every time he got the ball was brilliant.

Now paulo is still on our top 5 players imo. I shudder to think what the pack would be like without him but when stuart thinks up an idea he goes to it over and over again. Its gone from paulo occasionally linking at the line to literally playing halfback from every scrum/most of the game. The shock value of it has gone.

Its like the hodgson barge over ball. He didnt do that at all when playing for england so its coaches orders imo and its another example of stick going to something that worked and running it into the ground.

Now attack isnt a problem because we still have enough individual brilliance in the team to win if we could defend. I think stuart would at this point be better served by just working on defence and doing what needs to be done and let them just play maniac ball in attack. We arent playing finals footy anyway but if i see the right side f**k up in defence again i will feel like climbing into the oven

For some reason I'm putting myself through the torture of broncos v raiders game (and corey parker) again and I reckon there could be something to the BJ/Austin rift.

There was a dropped ball by Austin and BJ is absolutely giving it to Austin. Considering the way they defend together it wouldn't surprise me if they weren't best of mates.

Also while we are attacking Stuart I really hate him moving Hodgson to lock. Now bless Hodgo he does not shirk work and runs his balls off to take hitups when he does get moved but he is giving up a heck of a lot of size and he is arguably our most skillful player.

I think Baptiste does add something against a tiring defense but Hodgson should probably move to halfback in the last 20

Raiders looking a little green around the gills

The Raiders continue to deny it, but I’m hearing the Green Machine is far from a happy camp at the moment.

After three straight losses, there’s plenty of finger pointing going on and coach Ricky Stuart is even angrier than usual - if that’s possible.

The drama was there for all to see when Blake Austin and Joey Leilua got involved in an on-field slanging match that was captured on TV cameras recently and it’s proof that things are not going well.

I’m hearing that a couple of senior players have even asked their managers to check their contract status.

Word is that if the Raiders, who looked so good on paper before a ball was kicked this season, don’t start winning soon, there will be a rush for the ‘exit’ door come September.
