He might not the best but at least he is honest in understanding it’s all about having the cattle to compete.

We are flat track bullies and the roosters are a damp and green trent bridge track.

And we have lost the toss and batting first

That'll be day 1 of the Test Pete, but we have developed a new delivery known as the Bateman which will not be delivered until the sunny days of an August 4th inning on the dustbowl of GIO.

We play the Roosters next week.

There's gonna be a lot of boys and a lot of hurtin in the sheds for the raiders next week.

Speaking of the Roosters I found this interesting:

https://www.playersvoice.com.au/craig-wing-call-almost-ended-career/

Craig Wing basically says Graham Murray was a crap coach, so that must mean Sticky's 02 premiership was all him. Apparently he also goes on to talk about the time Sticky lost the plot in the corresponding podcast, but I aint listening to Craig friggin Wing's voice for an hour to hear that story (plus it doesn't suit our argument).

Here are some quotes:

"I flew up to meet Wayne Bennett. Wayne said, ‘I saw you play at Ballymore (for the Australian schoolboys rugby team) when you beat the junior All Blacks. I love the way you play. These are your skills. I know you’ve got natural ability. This is where you’re weak. This is who we’re going to sit you behind.

You’re going to learn off Darren Lockyer and the Walters brothers. We’re not going to rush you into it but we’re going to bring you through slowly. You’re going to grow and develop under me.’

I remember getting on the plane with my dad just thinking, ‘wow, that was just everything that anyone wants to hear’. Any young player – the great Wayne Bennett says he knows who I am, he knows where I need to improve, he knows how to help me. That’s pretty amazing.

Then I went and met up with Graham Murray at the Roosters shortly after. Murray sat there and said, ‘so I’ve never really seen you play, don’t really know who you are, but they tell me you’re a good player.

‘Nick Politis wants you, so if Nick Politis wants you I want you too.’

That was the biggest contrast ever. I remember sitting there with my dad and my dad was saying ‘look, Wayne Bennett is a pretty good coach … ’

-------

"This is where I draw back to having a coach that knows you. I was asking Graham Murray, ‘what do I need to do? How do I need to improve? Can you help me?’ And he basically said, ‘look you’re supposed to know this stuff when you come to first grade and I’ve got a team to worry about.’

I’ll never forget that.

-----

No wonder he didn't want to come to the BBQ's at Murrays. Sticky saved that club.

Did he say why he knocked back developing under Wayne or can we just assume it was wads of cash for the Roosters?
