Crashing back to earth
Like an astroid about to end all mankind as we know it.
Crashing back to earth
It lasted about 5mins.Something strange has happened to the Raiders this year. I think I can explain it. When Jordan Rapana retired last year , he not only pulled the plug on his illustrious career but also the infamous Raiders’ communal football brain. The story goes that he somehow bypassed the security system at Queanbeyan leagues club(the same way he used to ghost through defensive lines), smashed the glass case surrounding the brain and unplugged it. And escaped unnoticed.
According to various sources ,during a farewell barbecue party at an undisclosed Sydney beach a former Raiders player(possibly Jack Wighton) threw a wayward cut out pass into the sea (apparently with the match all tied up). Despite Ricky’s frantic efforts to save it, the brain was lost forever. Or so we thought .
Since then the Raiders have looked ominous , albeit only 2 rounds in. Ricky has struck gold again while mining in the north of England. Big Papa dived at the try line against the Broncos like he was lunging for the last double cheeseburger at the local all you can eat. Strike on both edges. Speed to burn. Hudson Young and Corey playing out of their skins. Speed to burn. Crisp in career best form. No Taps or Savage. No worries.
How long will it last. Who knows? But if it does continue Raiders’ fans can strap themselves in. Because they’re in for one helluva ride.
Poor Wicky doesn’t know the rules anymore? You tell em Ricky. The poor buggers should have won.

Poor Wicky doesn’t know the rules anymore?
But there was nothing wrong with the rules after Round 1 and 2 when you won.
Oh that’s right you lost so suddenly it’s not the fault of your undisciplined team it’s bizarrely that the rules have changed.
Give him the Premiership for the biggest whiner after every loss.
Dead set what a sore loser.
Jog on Wicky!

Your fullback dropped the ball 3 times from Manly kicks. It's not at all surprising Manly got more sets.Atkins completely controlled the momentum of the game with his disgusting rulings.
What team is going to compete - or even show up defensively - with a 27-12 set count?
The hit from Olakau'atu on Smithies was fractionally late. Could easily have been a Canberra penalty. The refs were ok with it though and made that decision. Could have gone either way.
Just a speedbump on our highway to glory.
At least our bubble made it past round one
Watching the replay atm.
Fairplay to the Raiders (and Ricky) they defended great for the first 22 minutes to keep it 0-all and were very unlucky with that first try. And not getting the penalty for the late hit before the obstruction.
At 20:27 Horsburgh made the decision to run at DCE. Rather than the gap between the defenders. Fogarty made the decision to run behind Horsburgh. That's on them. I'm sorry but it is.

From there, the professional foul and the sin bin at 21:46. Horsburgh is not square at marker. He decides to tackle Tevaga from an offside position in a potential try-scoring situation. That's on him again.
Everything else happening (the next thirty minutes) Manly dominated and scored 40 points. This was due to individual errors (forced and unforced) and fatigue.
You can question some of the decisions but you cannot (IMHO) blame that result on the refs, the bunker or their interpretations of the rules.
Individual decisions were made in the moment. The result was a consequence of those decisions.
The Manly supporter was pretty spot on I thought.Thank you for sharing your balanced and unbiased opinion on this forum, anonymous person with Sea Eagles avatar.

Too many people are pissed off with the 6 again calls. Yes, it is bloody frustrating to have your team up against those calls.....but they were not incorrect decisions.
We can have our game called one of two ways.
1. Cut out the 6 agains. If the comp did that, we all know what that will lead to. It would be a return to the wrestle and clubs using negative play to get a penalty so that their defensive line had time to reset.
2. Keep the 6 agains. It is frustrating when it goes against you but at least slowing down tactics are punished in a great way now.
