Is Robbie Farah worth 600k?

Pros.
- Mentor to Damien cook. I think cooks game has gotten better with Farah around.
- Has a great kicking game. Actually better than Reynolds at kicking.
- He has done almost everything a player can do in league. Has the experience.

Cons.
- 600k could buy 2 decent first graders. 1 very good first grader.
- The utility bench player hasn't worked for Souths mainly because our props have had a poor season.

Didn't want to talk about the toxicity theory to the side. Mostly because it's unproven and I hope it's not true especially because that would destroy his reputation as a player.

If I've missed anything feel free to post about it.

I have have been challenged elsewhere when I said Souths would be paying Farah $650k next year, they said it was more like $450k........not sure of the facts myself.

The most reliable source I have seen claims Farah to be on 600k. 350k upgrade from the first year which was 250k. 750k is a myth apparently. So next year Farah is ultimately taking 600k out of our 2018 salary cap.

No.

At 250k we got value out of him, but 600k is to much

It is wrong to look at our RF deal on a 1 year basis only.
We signed him for 2 years , the average is numbers are true are $800k for two years , i.e. average $400k pa. Is he worth that to us after assessment of 2017 , maybe not , however appears a reasonable gamble if you consider this at the start of 2017.

As our 80 minute hooker, i would suggest yes.
If he isn't playing 80 then definitely not

Of course he's not worth it,wasn't even worth considering for a contract in my opinion.
Why would of we recruited this self righteous hack for the money he's on when they could of kept McInnes together with Cook for a lot less.
Call McInnes what you want but at least he had the potential to improve"which he has"and be around a lot longer than Farah.
Just another f...up by our incredibly intelligent Managent and recruitment team!

McInnes had already signed for the Dragons and was waiting to be released. It was revealed during the segment Fox League did on Cook earlier in the season.

Yea, at the time it didn't make sense, why sign farah when you have one of the best young hooking prospects in the game and a capable back up in cook.

But i think it's all come out now that losing mcinnes was the catalyst for the farah signing not the fallout. We lost Mcinnes, Cook at that stage hadn't shown at that stage that he was a viable option as a starting first grade hooker ( and to a degree still hasn't. He's had a couple of decent games in the later rounds of 2017, same in 2016 after we begun negotiations with farah and same in 2015 with the dogs. In fact i don't think he has ever put in a decent enough game before round 21 of a year, and definitely never a string of form in the meatier part of the year) so buying for farah made sense. At 200k this year he was a bargain, 600k for next year is overs but with a lack of other options a guess it's necessary. When you look at it at an average of 400k a season as some have pointed out i guess it's not that bad, and i say that as someone who has hated farah.

Lol, what style of play is that, losing?
Mcinnes went alright in 2014 and 2015 when he came into a performing team. His 'style' didn't seem to have an effect on things then.

I thought he done alright in 2016, seen a few around try make a scapegoat of him for 2016, yet we've had the same problems in 2017 as we did in 2016, so i don't think you can blame mcinnes for being the 'wrong' style, it made no difference

Mcinnes doesn't work with our team because our forward pack is weak unlike the dragons forward pack. Worst prop rotation in the competition. At the dragons he can play as a 3rd prop allowing the forwards around him to run much more. He is nothing special but he gets the job done. Cook ran for the most meters out of any of our props on the weekend. That's straight up embarrassing.

Only because he was treated like crap from the powers that be!
If I've said it once I've said it a thousand times, our Management are the most arrogant pricks I've ever had the displeasure to meet.
And I'm talking about multiple encounters regarding corporate sponsorship.
Believe me fellas our club isn't about us!

I'd prefer a couple of very good ball-playing forwards who could set up long running metres for other players. Cook's organising game needs to be his strength.
I also would prefer McInnes over Cook---he has been contributing hugely to the Dragons much better season with his tireless defence & his ability to guide the team.
If Cook was at Saints I reckon he'd be in the NSW Cup!!

There's no way in hell Cam Smith would ever run for more metres in a game then his forwards. Because good hookers take control and manage the game. The fact that mcinnes has got his forward pack rolling through teams so well that he only has to run when their might be something on is a credit to his control. The fact the mcinnes runs far less then cook yet has more tries, try assists, line break assists and is equal on line breaks says a lot about his 'style'. The fact that he doesn't have to make metres up the middle, because he is helping guys like vaughan, packer and De Belin get the roll on seems to work. It works well considering Mcinnes Defence is fair Superior as well, he doesn't need someone to complete his tackles for him.

It's certainly seems that way from someone like me who has had zero dealings with the club, and this is not the first time I've read about our managements arrogance amd mismanagement.

It's why i don't think sacking madge is the silver bullet many make it out to be.

That's how I see it too Tony, we've had a number players leave the club but the results don't seem to change, admittedly injuries have played a part but other than that Souths must be retaining the wrong players or the coach has lost his ability to get them going.

Welcome to the forum by the way. ;)
