i have no idea about that... but i am curious about the switch in interchange tactics today with sully not coming until the final 'quarter'.

just part of the gameplan vs raiders or a trial / taste of things to come on a more permanent basis ?

He doesn't look very happy, when the other players were congratulating each other after a try he was very straight faced.

Maybe he feels like he is being fazed out.

When is the anniversary of his mum's passing, maybe it's around now and he is off his game because of that.

He definately needs more game time to prove what he can do.

This isn't because I am biased, Mr Robo agrees as written in previous posts.

he is one year into a 3 year deal. Not that contracts mean much.

Depends how we attack the market... Though I think if we get rid of Sully then we should chase a hooker and I don't see them doing this.

Who knows... Sully needs more game time as at the moment he is wasting a spot.

yea im sure he would love more game time like last year we know what he is capable of , would just love to see him perform
what i was thinking was there was a rift between him and raper ,

I think it was just a plan for today. Both he and Bird looked very sharp when they came on so it could become a tactic used more often.

He needs to play more like a dummy half at the moment. His little grubber kick is ineffective against good defences and he got lucky by forcing the knock on off one yesterday.

He wasnt suited to the up the guts defence needed yesterday and hilder did a sweet job in the rough stuff. I think they compliment eachother very nicely. Raper had the option of leaving hilder on yesterday when it was needed, and he took it. Nice luxury to have a guy like sully to create spark

This is what it's all about, IMO.

It shows that Raper is capable of reading a game exceptionally well (when he wants to!), and makes calls such as this one 'on the run' so to speak.

As has been noted by many 'experts' (Gould being one of them...?), the game was being played on defence for almost all the first half...Normally the time Sully is on.

Hence, with the tackling load we were lumped with in the first half, Hilder was the better man to be out there. He was handling it, so why waste the interchange?

One of the Channel 9 gooses made the comment yesterday during the coverage, that 'just because there are 12 changes available, that doesn't mean a coach has to use them all.'

It's rare that you would not use them all, sure. But if your 13 that are out there are on fire and in a good rhythm, seems silly to take a bloke off for the sake of it.

I think Raper is trying a new tactic and it didn't look bad. Don''t worry Sully will come on when we need speed, he is suited to some games and Hilder to others. They are complete opposite types of players but both good at what they do. It was a luxury to have Hilder as defence yesterday, saved a try in the first halve right on the line. Patience is a firtue. While the team is winning all players are gaining, thats part of a TEAM

While Sully is a lovely young man, he does have a bit of a history of not getting on with coaches. :?

Hilder is a good dummy half so keep him there. But sully does need a little bit more time than last week. Maby we should get rid of sully from the bench and give bird a go. Oh yeah i forgot he cant pass scrap that idea. I think we need 3 fowards on the bench but bird is playing to good to drop and sully is a high profile player it will take a while before they drop sully.
