Is the PNG club even gonna happen?

During recent Senate Estimates hearings, NSW Senator Jess Collins questioned why this investment is so league-focused and suggested that rugby union deserves similar support:

A quick scroll through her social media shows she’s a big union advocate – sharing Wallaroos content, being hosted by Phil Waugh at rugby union events, and amplifying posts from Jilly Collins, General Manager of Women’s Rugby at Rugby Australia. Is there a family link between Jess and Jilly? Could just be shared passion but looks iffy.

Rugby union leaders are nervous and are clearly throwing their weight around behind closed doors on this.

The PNG jersey is iconic for its yellow base with red or red and black V.

Slight design changes from different eras of jersey manufacturing doesn’t make the point you think it does.

The women’s jersey is irrelevant as they’ve worn different jersey designs to the men in their short history.

Bears will be red and black
Dolphins red and gold, and have a red black and gold kit
Surely PNG should not use red, yellow, black

48 minutes long.

does anyone have a breakdown of what he said?
2 or 3 sites they are looking at currently for the team.

Airways Hotel and residences, right near the Airport, is firming as the preferred option. Aparently they own their own Island. Couldn't find any information on it, but thinking it could be Loloata Island Resort (Image below).

At the Airways Hotel, they are looking at building a seperate wing of 80 apartments for players, family and staff - work to get started in the new year (obviously if it gets chosen) - Own schooling system also to be provided.

One other option being explored is the Marriott Executive Apartments in the CBD of Port Moresby.

Appreciate this.

Does this mean the gated community/compound isn’t happening?

If the Airways 80 apartments build goes ahead - that would be the gated community/compound. I had a feeling once people actually saw the facility, the notion that it's a compund, which garners images of a barbed wire around a concrete building, would go away. It's essentially just a resort area that the team lives in - probably with a little bit more security for overzealous fans.
