Is the Twenty20 concept about to signal the end of one-day internationals?

Will 20/20 kill ODIs?

It would be a good idea, if the pitches weren't roads and gave the bowlers a fair chance. The powerplay should be a calculated risk not a free for all against helpless bowlers.
Why not make the bowlers job a bit harder, besides good bowlers can do well in the situation, plus its actually putting more pressure on the batsman to make sure they hit some boundaries in that phase, good for breaking up the period of singles to the fielders in the deep

Because everything is already weighted towards batsmen and make their job harder. Looking at ODI cricket how exactly could you make things harder for a bowler? The pitch is already a lifeless lump of concrete and the ropes continue to be pulled in as well as the outfields getting faster. Do you want bowlers to run in blindfolded now?

Yes good bowlers can do well, so why can't good batsmen do well in even conditions? Why do they have to have everything in their favour?

I like batting team power plays and i like ODIs better than T20. As a neutral I thought last night's game was great especially considering the right team won.

Happened a lot quicker than I thought it would.

The people have spoken

Crowds have been down at the one-day cricket this season, but Friday's attendance was the lowest for an Australia-Windies game at the MCG, and Cricket Victoria chief executive Tony Dodemaide admitted it was disappointing.

Interesting how the poll went and so many got it wrong.

5 match series are too much IMO 3 games maximum IMO. The CA officials have alot to answer for IMO. They are killing ODI cricket why the does the MCG get three and places like Hobart get zero? They could even play games in Darwin, Canberra or Cairns, possibly even Newcastle

I am 38. I have never watched a full game of 20/20. I have grown up with 50 over cricket & accepted it as the part of the summer landscape. Every year for the last 5 years i have taken less interest in 50 over cricket to the point that this summer, i have not watched a full game of 50 over cricket.

So, i am left (thankfully in my opinion) with test cricket. So as far as the "future" of the game lies, will "fans" of the 20 over game appreciate test cricket like i do (as stated, grew up in the Packer era), or will they see this slog-fest as the future of cricket. Only time will tell.
