Brings money to the NRL.
They don't share it fairly with the clubs that carry the burden of having the majority of Monday night home games.

If they reimbursed clubs per Monday night game then maybe that would be fair.

I love coming home from work, prepare my dinner and watch Monday night football. Great way to wind down after work.

i really don't see it unless its brining much needed revenue to the game

its money pure and simple.

its fox sports highest rated game week in week out.

My Brother in law works for Diageo ( company that distributes bundy) and from what he tells me there sponsorship of monday night footy has been very successful.

It brings money into the game, plain and simple. It's a part of Foxsports deal and Triple M were very keen for exclusive radio rights also. Crowds don't seem to be that much worse than those played at other times.

Did this as a topic after some pitiful early crowds, I think the consensus was on the side of keeping it.

Glenn Munsie from Footytab has said on numerous occasions that Monday Night is the biggest hold on any match over the round

The point is to bring ratings and subscriptions and money to Fox. It probably is part of their calculations for how much money they offered top the game for the broadcast rights too.

Other than that there is no point to Monday nights whatsoever. It failed in the late 80s/early 90s(?), and it will fail again.

The game shouldn't be dictated to by the medai companies buying up rights. The game should do the right thing by the game, clubs and fans, let the clubs nominate their preferred playing days/times, and do the draw for the whole season in advance, and then say to broadcasters "here it is, how much will you pay for it".

No tinkering or cowtowing. And no more Monday nights.

I quite like coming home after work to watch it, providing the missus lets me...

Although some venues are just not suited for it, I mean places like Newcastle and Canberra on a Monday night? Very hard for opposition supporters to get there being "remote" as such

Does the MMM call go to their interstate stations?
We in Sydney have to put up with their AFL drivel on Saturday afternoons, if all's fair.....
At least I could see some good if the call went live into Melbourne (etc) on triplem.

Spot on. It makes me sick how the NRL is whoring the game out. It's a shame that rugby league is no longer (and for quite some time) "the people's" game.

Yeah we get the sydney MMM team here in Melb. but only if Storm are playing on Monday nights...whoever those guys are, they are hilarious.

I think you better get used to it.
As long as it brings money into the game, I have no problems with it.

isnt there generally believed to be a 'curse' in backing up from monday night? well aside form the dogs yesterday, plenty of people and commentators believe that teams who play monday night generally perfrom poorly the enxt round with the short turnaround. if this is the case then it's an example of watering down the wuality of the product to stretch it further.

i dont have fox so it doesnt interest me in having a monday night game, i see it as a 'tacked on' game and i dont think it helps the quality of rugby league

How is playing on Monday night one week then Sunday Night (5 days) Any different form playing on a Sunday afternoon then a friday night? (5 days)

The short turnaround thing is a moot point because there are other teams besides the monday night teams with varrying lengths of recovery time.

These are professional athletes and if they can back up from test matches and origins they can back up for monday games.

Ive said time and time again Monday Night Footy gives us a stranglehold on the sporting population of Australia for an entire day.

Its the only game on in any code so its all the media has to preview. People who are fans of other teams/codes wouldn't switch to watch league if their own game was on(like during saturday night when all 3 codes are playing) but on a monday night they may give league a go, or just watch some different teams, and find they enjoy the event and the game. That is what we can benefit from.

I also love it for the fact you can have a sh*t day at work and be cheered up by a good game of footy. Not to mention if you have an RDO on Tuesday you can get messy...lol
