Good to see the site finally alive. Hopefully in the lead up to the tri-nations they will do some sort of launch that will include promoting the 2008 RLWC

Yeah I forgot about the Pacific Nations Cup this year too. Tonga beat Fiji in the final from memory. It was pretty low key unfortunately, especially with no NRL Players. Tonga and Fiji to go through in the Pacific qualifiers would be a good result too.

There were only 9 members in the 1995 RLWC, GB had England and Wales.

Cook Islands were awarded membership on winning the Emerging Nations 1995

I don't think so. If Australia played Russia it would not be a Test but if they played France it would be (and then it wouldn't be and then it would be again  ).

But Russia has Test status so Russia v Australia would be a Test match (though not in a WC - and there's next to no chance they'd play a one off or Test series, so it will remain theory only!).

What happens when a Test nation plays a non-Test nation? It's an 'international' I suppose.

Australia v Russia would not be a Test. Even if Russia does have Test status, and I don't think they do, there is no way the ARL would give Test caps to Australian players for a game against Russia. They were reluctant to give Test caps to the players for last year's game against France, and France definitely is a Test nation. But it's true, Australia will probably never play Russia.

My rankings:
Win: 2 points
Draw: 1 point
Loss: 0 points

Then divide the ammount of games played and then you go from there.

Can teams just choose whether a match is a Test or not? The France match incident used the pretext of five subs to deprive the game of Test status, didn't it?

Surely if both are full members and play in a match not in the WC and without any predetermined conditions, i.e. full int'l rules, it's a Test match.

Just more of the vagaries of int'l RL that need to be standardised.

This game was not a test at the time, yet in the "wisdom" of the ARL some time after they awarded it as a test.
It shouldn't have been as the French used 5 subs as you said.
Has there ever been a more inept duo then Love and Carr, remeber the on again off again Roo tour of 2001? This idiots are custodians of the game they are supposed to improve it not damage it. I just think there is no-one willing or able to stand up to certain coaches etc and enforce rules.

I'm sure the Russians were awarded Test status after the 2000 WC . So surely if Russia meet Australia in a match outside of the WC then it's a Test match . Isn't it ? My head hurts .

They became a full member of the RLIF, but does that mean they are a Test nation? I'm not so sure. Anyway, what I can be sure of is that the ARL would be reluctant to give Test caps to players for playing against Russia even if they are a Test nation.
