How exactly is that Smiths fault? Before a ball was kicked, we'd lost both our wingers from last year in Carney and Quinn, plus one of our backup wingers in Salkeld, our best centre in Gidley, and our most experienced prop in Smith. Early into this year we lost Johns, Davico, and Thaiday for the season. We've also missed our key players in Kidley, Mullen, Buderus, Simpson and Perry for extended periods this year. The team that finished 4th last year used around 26 players all year. This year we've used 36. Yes, our Jersey Flegg team from last year were minor premiers and runners up in the grand final, and are all talented players, but you can't expect immediate results when you've got half that team all making their debut and playing first grade against far more experienced teams. You can't take the most experienced players out of a team that finished 4th one year, replace them with a bunch of 18 and 19 year old kids who were playing flegg last year and expect them to replicate the feats of the team before them. You just can't. One thing that we can take out of this year is that because they've been fast-tracked into first grade earlier than expected, these kids have gained invaluable experience and will be better for it next year.Ron Jeremy said:No, but he has taken a side that came 4th last year even with the emergence of the flegg side to almost second last.
Frederick said:2003, 04, and 05, yes. Last year, however, was our best year with injuries in a long, long time, and seemed to be the result of our USTEP conditioning program that we'd invested quite a fair bit of money into. But then this year rolls around and we cop an even worse injury toll than in 05 when we collected the spoon.

As you had Hagan haters so we had Smith haters. What many people fail to see is that both coaches have positives and negatives.
Aside from anything else any team with Johns on their books needs him fit. Simple as that.
What I find most - well I was going to say strange but it actually saddens me to see Parra fans carry on like this - is that we are third, we have an exciting team, and people still feel the need to carry on about Smith. It's petty really. Everytime I see this thread pop up on the front page i feel that little bit worse about the fans of my club. Totally unnecessary negativity when we could all be focusing on the positives.
