Ivory Coast?

I was reading an old edition of Rugby League Review and came across an article about Ivory Coast keen to play Rugby League and have formed a group to start up the sport. Has anything eventuated as yet?
With a population of 16 million and already been involved in the Rugby Union World Cup in 1995 maybe Rugby League might go well there in the african nation. Was just curious as to if anything developed?

I remeber talk of this some time back, infact it could have been around this time last year on the RLeague forums.

Must say that its been to quiet on that front to think anything has been done recently.

All African countries like this are a no-go. We don't have the money in England and Australia to support anyone else, and no-one else plays league professionally.

A country like the Ivory Coast wouldn't be able to provide a grassed pitch, ball and posts never mind anything as organised as a competition without significant overseas investment.

Rugby League needs to crack America and Russia. There is money in the USA which is crying out to be spent on Rugby League. A country with that much money and that many people could only succeed surely. Even if one in ten thousand people started playing the game, that would be enough to turn them into a superpower of Rugby League. And Russia is the one country that has shown promise of its own making with massive crowds watching the student RL games. Another enormous country, but without the money. There are however enough oil barons and gangsters knocking about with a few spare billion.
