J T re-arranges the gym

In Yesterday's Sunday Telecrap, there was a small snippet about how JT, in consulation with his new strength and conditioning people, has removed all the free weights from the gym.

I'm not sure if the boys now have to pay to do a weights session, but at the end of the day their contracts don't come for free ! :D

It mentioned the new professional staff looking to resolve the disturbingly high injury/recovery time of our hapless club . . . . you got the impression that the free weights may be lifted incorrectly, or with the wrong range of movement . . . as opposed to weights on the pulleys/bars of a machine.

Anyway . . . at least the new team are trying something. Let's hope it helps !!

well I guess after watching them train with all the equipment, they found that they were probably using the free weights incorrectly which may have created injuries.

It's hard to retrain athletes how to use weights correctly after they've been taught the wrong way. It doesn't take much of a mental slip to seem them revert back to bad habits.

I doubt its true. They showed the guys doing weights not long ago and there was only free weights.

Should be the other way round, Free weights promote natural movements as opposed to pulleys which would promote a more robotic forward and backward motion.

I agree that it would be difficult to relearn movements, but these are pro athletes, adjusting and improving would not be uncommon.

It wouldn't be Taylor. He would leave that upto the new S&C coach. We now have the best in the business with Keegan Smith. I'm willing to trust his judgement.

I'm with you.

I think I can safely state that I preferred Potter and its pretty early to say that. I really don't care if I like the guy or not though if we are winning games.

So do we want a different outcome from the past few years ?

It's great that he is changing the way they eat. We have basically been fed lies in what foods our body needs and uses for energy. The five food groups are a load of bs invented by an American bloke which our country has blindly adapted. We will have our best year of injuries in a long mid if the players are learning how to lift and eat correctly as athletes should.

Sparky Polastri is at it again with the gluten free routine. If the fullbacks use "spirit fingers" to catch the ball, I'll be concerned.

Gluten free is good for someone with celiac' s or gluten intolerance , for the other 99% of the population it makes no difference. . Its like a coach telling his players to give up seafood just because HE has an allergy to it.

So are the half a dozen schooners after training gluten free? Greazy kebab off the menu.

Sorry forgot it is not the 80, 90s.

How f**king ridiculous - don't worry about natural footballing ability, just be a gluten free athlete and you'll win a premiership.

This. Unless you have an allergy (i.e. an inappropriate immune response) removing gluten from your diet does nothing.

Can't believe there are people so pissed off about this.

If you keep doing what you've always done, you'll keep getting what you always got.

Given Taylor come from a club that has won a premiership 2 seasons ago and appeared in th ed finals again last year, which on both occasions saw that club hardly at all impacted by injuries, compared to us, i think it's worth being patient and see if it works.

f**k, its not like he asked them to all chop a leg off ffs.

Agreed. Taylor has come from a winning culture at the Roosters and that's a big part of why we signed him. Of course we want him bringing some ideas over.

Everyone complained that Potter wasn't given enough control over the team. I'd like to see Taylor given complete control and he can then live or die by the sword.
