We have Gareth and Dugan problems to sort out and some other good players too....
I agree however, if the someone finally signs Bird, then there is one less in the market for Widdop - except for Broncos who want him as a lock.

I'm hoping Bird will be signed by the Tigers. They seem to be the Club most serious about signing Widdop.

Can we now put the bird thing to rest. Bird is true to form $$$ talks. Would have been a nice signing for the knights , I can see his time at Brisbane going sour for some reason.

Jack Bird rejects Cronulla Sharks offer to join the Brisbane Broncos
David Riccio, The Daily Telegraph
JACK Bird has decided this morning that he will move to Queensland and join the Brisbane Broncos on a three-year deal worth $2.1m.

The Broncos contract offer is believed to be worth $350,000 more over three seasons, than what the Sharks were offering.

Bird, who won last year’s premiership at centre, made the decision before training this morning after also weighing up a multi-million dollar offer from the Newcastle Knights.

However, the 22-year-old advised his management to inform Knights officials that he would be declining their offer to join the Broncos.

Bringing the prolonged contract negotiations to an end, Bird has been adamant that the lure of playing five-eighth at the Broncos would be a major factor in his decision.

How Bird adjusts to playing five-eighth alongside unorthodox Broncos halfback Anthony Milford is considered a major gamble by some experts and will become a major talking point ahead of the 2018 season.

The premiers were preparing for the NSW Origin utility’s departure and have drawn-up a hit list of targets for which they will now use the salary cap money they had reserved for Bird to sign a marquee outside back.

A grub of the 1st order and very glad he didn't come here.
The Sharks if they have any balls should punt him to reggies as of now.
Reeks of the same hoopla around the Mundine signing by the Broncos.

Can't begrudge him for doing what's best for him and his career. He could've been a Dragon but McDickhead didn't give him the opportunity. Best of luck to him now.

Think you mean Price, pretty sure bird signed with Sharks about 2 weeks after McGregor took over, correct me if I am wrong.

2.1 million over 3 years works out to 700k a season? Wow. That is a freakin bargain. Can't be right? Surely he is worth more than that? If Moses is getting close to 1 mil the Bird is worth more than that.

Seriously if you said to me Jack Bird wants 700k after Duges rejected 850k and Widdop is stalling for a similar amount I would have not done the deal quick enough. It is a bargain compared to what Duges and Widdop are after. I would rather Bird than Duges or Widdop any day of the week. He is much younger and can play more positions. I am shocked with this. Makes you realise how much Saints over paid for Ben Hunt. 1/2 a million more.

Not sure about that. He's chasing the dollars he believes he's worth so good luck to him. I still have a lingering doubt about his longevity given his medical condition.

It will be closer to a mil per year with 3rd party deals.

It's like most of their roster. The cap figures are low
