I would say he was recruited as backup/3rd option, but expected that he would put pressure on the incumbents too.

I do agree though it's a sad time for him. Poor bugger is no doubt trying his best and no doubt an embarrassing time for him.

I know people think Crossland isn't the answer but we have Arthur and Brailey for hooker rotation. Crossland can defend, kicks further than Cogger and is great at support play. Just do it.
