I spent 6 years in the infantry, they were the kings of bastardisation and treating people like shit. They have been dragged kicking and screaming into the modern age, now it's the nrls turn.
Dont know what time period you were in, but in my experience (early 90's) there was some Full Metal Jacket shit going on, but when someone broke or it was obvious they would the stumps were pulled up, the poor prick was taken off to the side and an honest conversation was had. Very different stakes involved in comparison to sport though.

In this case @skeepe made a pretty good point earlier in the thread, it's not so much the punishment itself, but more so the continuation of it when it had gotten to a point that there was nothing to be gained from it and the bloke was a spent unit. Hard to know for sure if you weren't there, and I'd say we will probably never know the full truth of it.

As I said something has happened in the 6 months.

The Clubman of the year at a club is usually the biggest ass kisser award.

So from that to being out 6 months later, Something would of happened.

It could just be he was late to training, this punishment happened and that’s it everything went downhill rapidly.

There doesn’t have to be more to this story at all. Coaching change 2023 and Topine not being picked, showing up late and then wresting 30 guys could it entirely.

His short career neatly encapsulates all the melodrama of the sport we love. As do the posts above by many. The abuse levelled at people for not sharing a view of others, the stereotyping used as argument, and the false indignation is a joy to read. All over a fella who decided not to play any more. Bring on the lawyers. There is a quid to be made here.
Ironically, you have now labelled yourself as the victim in this online conversation.

Every Club does it

And if he wins his case; there will be thousands of other cases presented to courts.
Thanks Braith.

This is the equivalent of Phil Gould's argument against penalising players for infractions being "they are coached to do that", insinuating that this somehow makes it OK.

All he had to do was wrestle everyone in the team. Big Deal. They were doing wresting training any way. So every other player basically did that any way.

If that is an embarrassment to you, you have problems.

So Topine won the Dogs clubman of the year award in 2022.

yet 6 months later is too soft?

Certainly more to this story

2022 you would've won the clubman of the year award!

Ciraldo demands a certain level which in 2022 was not the case under Barrett.

And a good time was had by all

BAM! 36 players his lawyer is lying from the get go!

4 minute punishment and the sook wants to cry!

He clearly knew his time at the Bulldogs was up... He is trying to milk this, more and more will come out from the other side and the morons who believed his lawyer will see it's not true to the extent they're trying to get sympathy for!

The Woke overlords on this site, never like the truth.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Tyran Smith, the agent of Topine, sent a list of his off-contract clients to all NRL teams on April 8.

That list included Topine, despite the 22-year-old stepping away from rugby league indefinitely on mental health grounds after the July 18 incident.

TheSMH contacted Smith to get to the bottom of why Topine’s name was on that email.

“This is a list which shows NRL players who were coming off contract in 2024,” Smith said.

The SMH also reports that included in Topine’s statement of claim, the 22-year-old alleges that his Bulldogs contract was illegally terminated.

His payments from the club ceased on October 31, which is the end of the rugby league financial year.

Topine reportedly provided medical certificates to explain his absence but according to sources, the Bulldogs stopped paying him when his sick leave benefits ran out after the former Maori All Stars rep didn’t respond to calls.

He was then removed from the club’s salary cap.

the thing that happened was he got his chance in first grade, was dropped for shithouse defence and then given some stick at training that week (before being selected again for first grade to redeem himself) and the weak cat took his bat and ball and went home.

I would love to know where they plucked 30-35 players from to wrestle the poor merkin.

A first grade squad consists of 30 players, and that's assuming none of them were injured by round 20

Not sure the length of time is really relevant.

"Yes sir it was not consensual, but I only put the tip in for a few seconds"

Ok then, you're free to go....

Yeah, I know it's not the same thing, but the point remains the same.

The point is that the other players were all wresting each other anyway. Wrestling was the training for the 2 hours of the training.

Jackson just wrestled for 5 minutes longer than anyone else.
