SGI has lost a few players of similar ability because of McGregor.
Like who?

Cooper, Gaz, Bmoz & Nighty were state & country rep outside backs & at least 3 of the 4 could be considered best in their position in the comp..

The closest I could think of would be Dugan.

The 4 blokes you mentioned all came through our junior ranks and were coached properly. Largely by Nathan Brown.

What is a more accurate description is that McGregor and his coaching team have never developed a rep quality outside back from our junior ranks and that is one of his many failings.

Based on?

Has Dufty ever played five-eighth?

Dufty played in the halves in his junior days- he has good vision and passing game but defence and kicking game would need major work. He will never be a NRL quality full- back and while he holds the delusion that he will be, I'm of the belief he is wasting his time at this club

Duffy has no future in the halves. No vision nor decision making. It’s why Field could never cut it there either.

Fullback is the only real option for either of them where they can use their speed but both play too small. They need to both watch Paphuyzen to learn how to play fullback effectively with a small frame.

Unfortunately, Papenhuyzen has Bellamy mentoring him while Field and Duffy have McGregor hence they are both nowhere.

To be coached by Bellamy.....to be coached by Mary.....hmmmm. Let me think.... na.... you just got to laugh at the latter....be like listening to some Yobo at the pub who practices coaching one liners.

Sometimes all it takes is a good coach to flick a switch with some players. Talent just needs to be unlocked sometimes.

Bennett did it with Soward who was a hot and cold player before Bennett got his hands on him. He effectively turned him into a steely premiership player.

But with McGregor at the helm, that's never going to happen with our young guys.

Exactly!
Take Garrick for example. Good coach who has developed him into an effective winger and Aust rep player (9's).
Now, Pat Herbert. Yes his 2019, was hampered by injury, but, how will he back up 2020 under Kearney?
CNK is another who has thrived under another coach.
Field, like Dufty, needs open play, which is not our style under Mc85, hence these type of players will never reach their full potential. In saying that, Duf has more to offer than Jai unfortunately. If Duf wants to play fullback he needs to study how players like Corey Thompson or Michael Gordon played the position.

That’s the thing, I don’t think he’s a half...zero kicking game. To me, Field is s fullback. Going to the ESL would be a detriment, in my opinion. Adam Quinlan springs to mind here.
Quinlan plays pretty well over there though. It would be a good chance for him to live in the UK make some coin. I’d love to do it if o had the chance. I’ve seen him have some cracking games at 6 for under 20s, especially that final we beat Ponga’s Cowboys.

Theres no room for Dufty, imo, in our 17.
Im a fan of his when he is on in attack, that boy has speed to burn, but his overall game, isnt upto 1st grade standard imo.
Alot of folkes went on and on about Field, how we stuffed up by not playing him, by releasing him etc etc
Yet, there was NO demand for him by any other NRL team.
I think we got that one right, and i think you'll find the same with Dufty, his overall game and consistency isnt NRL 1st grade standard.
Sailor and Sullivan will be our future halves pairing post Norman and Hunt.
The big ? Is Lomax, will he be our saviour at fullback, or is his position centre?

I wrote “similar”; do you know how to read and comprehend the most basic of stuff?

If it weren’t for McIdiot, Morris, Dugan, MacDonald...and to a fair lesser extent (in terms of ability) Mann would all still be at the club.

This backline would be much better than the current one:

1. Lomax
2. Morris
3. Dugan
4. Mann
5. MacDonald.

Seriously Jimmy, do you not know how to talk footy without carrying on like a twat?

And I’d say that backline is in no way of similar ability to one containing cooper, Gaz & Morris?
