im going to take the gloves off for a second and commend geelongs james podsiadly. this bloke was originally drafted, in 1999 but has scrounged around in the vfl until he took a job as a condiditoner/player with the geelong cats vfl side and was subsequently drafted into the first grade side and is going great guns. it just makes you think that the nrl clubs should be doing more things like this, theres tons of talented players busting their you know whats in the qcup/nswcup just waiting for their chance

JPod isn't really up there yet, he's only had half a season.

I really think his ability has a lot to do with his fitness,

His work rate is high and his second efforts are good (although he rarely misses a contested mark) and the fact that he stays on his feet means his second efforts result in quality disposals.

He carried Geelong's forward line yesterday with Money, StevieJ and Tommyhawk out

George Carmont was 26 when he debuted for Newcastle, and he actually had very little League experience before then.
His story was that he played League as a junior but gave it away when a team mate died in a swimming incident, and many years later he came to Australia and started playing with his brother in the Newcastle comp as a social outlet. He did so well he was Newcastle player of the year in basically his first senior year of league and got a trial at the Knights.
