Has officially been granted his release by the club.

It seemed like it was only a matter of time when those photos were released. That night on the town put him on thin ice with the club and his response wasn't good enough. Jimmy was demoted to Queensland Cup and while he only had limited opportunities to impress due to VISA issues he didn't impress in his one outing with the club.

The fact he's come to management and asked for his release shows the situation at Brisbane was untenable and the club could no longer compensate him.

Roberts played 79 games for the club, scoring 40 tries. The highlight was without a doubt the try he scored against Sydney in Round 11 of the 2018 season where he burnt Latrell Mitchell and stepped James Tedesco to book his place in the NSW side.

Roberts will link up with Wayne Bennett at Souths, filling Inglis' void at right centre.

I can understand letting him go, but why not wait until end of season? We have nothing to gain at all by letting him go immediately. We were already thin on centres with releasing Kahu and Bird injured. I'm not convinced by Shibasaki and Staggs is inexperienced. If one of those gets injured we are in even more trouble.

If a player is that fed up they want a release, chances are they won't have their mind on the job. The club has to consider the opportunity cost and with Jimmy they realised it was a lost cause. So they've done the right thing by him and by the club. It's one less distraction to contend with in the squad and they can now enter the market and look for a suitable replacement or upgrade somebody within the club.

It's a shame it's come to this and it's another bold decision from Anthony. Hopefully this works out better than the Gagai situation which eventually saw the Broncos have to settle on Lachlan Maranta as their starting winger.

The circus around him was the last thing Wynnum needed in a season when they have been playing consistently well. Not disappointed he won't be back.

One step forward, two steps back with Roberts.

He'll be great at Souths until Bennett's contract is up.

I seem to remember he did the same thing in the game prior or after this one too.

Luckily we have Richie Kenner waiting this time.

On a serious note, very disappointing losing him. He was great to watch and at times he was our only attacking spark. I hope he does well at Souths and their halves actually give him some ball.

It does seem like he wasn't that into it this year, although he was ok on the field with limited opportunities. But you could see he came back from pre season bigger than last year. I think his ongoing injury has alot to do with it too.
