all this hype about lyon from saints fans, yes the guy is good, very good, but some saints fans i have spoken to and certainly some saints fans that post on other forums seem to think he is world class, how can he be considered world class when he is playing in sl and has only played about 9 games [-X

Trust an NRL fan who watched Lyon for 4 years then...the guy is far and away the best centre in the world. Better than world class. He is, however, a gutless traitor who should be punished for what he did to Parramatta by never playing rep football again. Ever. And he may not, people in high places were not pleased with what he did.

 Well said.

What Lyon did to Parramatta was low, the club who looked after him so well, the fans who adored him, he took a huge sh!t on all of us. He lied right from the start of his whole "homesick" saga, if he was just honest, Parra could have helped sort it out and he'd still be here, and have 3 more NSW caps, and 5 more Aus caps under his belt too. He threw it all away and for what? He's gained nothing out of this.

The guy is all class on the field, world's best centre by far, but off the field he's a scumbag.

From what I've heard, he has a clause in his St. Helens contract that says if he leaves before it ends, he comes under control of Parramatta again. The only way he'd gain his rep (both his reputation and representative football career) back in Australia is for him to do that, only then the English would hate him because Saints gave away probably the best English centre in Gleeson to sign Lyon.

On form, Lyon should be playing for Australia, but for what he did, he should never represent Australia or NSW again.

He'd wanna be careful when he does come back to Australia (sorry LIAS, you know it will happen though) because alot of people will wanna take a shot at him when he does get back here, and I can't blame them either.

honestly some of you are total idiots. You think Super League is some form of park footy. Well i got news for you, it isnt. LETS HAVE A LOOK AT JASON SMITH AND MATT ADAMSON. Everyone thought they were going to be really shit because they played "super league" but guess what.....they are absolutely killing the NRL. What about Adrian Morley, one of the best props in the NRL, where did he come from?.......the ESL.

Who won the World Club Challenge......Leeds Rhinos

Who actaully was on top of the table in the Tri-Nations before the Final? ...... Great Britain (some of you are now gonna tell me that this doesnt count because GB got hammered in the GF, but this actually shows that GB were in fact more consistent throughout the WHOLE tournament).

Im not saying the ESL is better than the NRL, hell no. But c'mon guys just because Lyon is playing in the ESL doesnt mean he's not good enough to play for Australia...

May be the Case. But the Sheer Depth of our playing stocks means we don't need to send out SOS's to English Based played to beat any other side in the world.

Where's Jamie this week LIAS? ;-)

Everyone thought they were going to be really sh*t because they played "super league" but guess what.....they are absolutely killing the NRL. What about Adrian Morley, one of the best props in the NRL, where did he come from?.......the ESL.

Jason Smith was always going to be good. Adamson hasn't been THAT good. And Morley has been here for years now, the Roosters made him the player he is today.

Anybody could have beaten that Bulldogs team that was sent over, they were minus possibly the best prop going around (O'Meley), two of the best backrowers in the world (Ryan, Mason), a great winger in Utai, and they'd just lost their captain in Price, and on top of that they nearly won anyway!

Great Britain were on top of that table because of Farrell, he kept that team together and now you've lost him, we'll see who's on top this year.

Lyon is good enough for Australia, but he doesn't deserve it for what he did to Parra, and Australia have so many good players in Australia anyway, they don't need Lyon.

Don't get me wrong either, I love watching the ESL on TV, it's good to watch and a good competition, but those facts you pointed out were just a bit flawed.

Hahahahahahaha, he might've played just one good game in the Tri-nations, Paul Sculthorpe, Brain Carney and Stuart Fielden all played better than him.

So because he left Parra, he doesnt deserve to be in the Australian team ever again? in that case Gasnier, Mason, Minichello, dont deserve a spot either because of their inappropriat behaviour a few yrs ago.

The Roosters did not make Morley the player he is today, he made an impact as soon as he came over here.

You're a dead set idiot mate. You don't even know what Lyon did to Parra. He asked for time off due to homesickness and Parra did the right thing and gave him that time off. He then gets spotted at Manly training, and comes looking for a release from his two year contract so he can go play for Manly, telling countless lies in the process. He then tried to make Parra look like the bad guys for not releasing him, but he wouldn't give a reason why he wanted the release. The lies he told to the club who looked after him so well. He's scum.

Farrell did keep the team together, in the ONE (count it, ONE) game they beat Australia in, it was him who kept that team together, he lead their massive defence.

And let's just say Morley did come over here a great player, that's ONE. Chris Thorman ring a bell? Good player over there, comes down here and is pathetic, goes back and is already being talked about as a bolter for the GB side.

Farrell was a great player but I don't think he will be missed in this years Tri-Nations because we have quite a few good second rows and loose forwards coming through the ranks. Shame 2 of the best (Gareth Hock and Sean O'Loghlin) are out for the season with knee ligament injuries though...

Chris Thorman has always been thought of as good but there are quite a few players in his position who should be in the GB team before him.

Taking into account injuries I would have this GB team/Squad at this stage in the season:

1 ) Richard Mathers (Leeds)
2 ) Brian Carney (Wigan)
3 ) Martin Gleeson (Warrington)
4 ) Kieth Senior (Leeds)
5 ) Mark Calderwood (Leeds)
6 ) Danny McGuire (Leeds)
7 ) Richard Horne (Hull)
8 ) Stewart Fielden (Bradford)
9 ) Kiren Cunningham (St Helens) - IF he keeps current form (otherwise T. Newton (Wigan))
10 ) Ryan Bailey (Leeds)
11 ) Adrian Morley (Roosters)
12 ) Paul Sculthorpe (St Helens)
13 ) Paul Cook (Hull)

14 ) Eorl Crabtree (Huddersfield)
15 ) Gareth Ellis (Leeds)
16 ) Kevin Sinfield (Leeds)
17 ) Paul King (Hull)

18 ) Terry Newton (Wigan)
19 ) Mick Higham (St Helens)
20 ) Chev Walker (Leeds)
21 ) Jaime Langley (Bradford)
22 ) Malcom Alker (Salford)
23 ) Karl Price (Bradford)
24 ) Luke Robinson (Salford)
25 ) Danny Tickle (Wigan)

Well I'm a huge fan of Farrell (and Wigan since Vaealiki moved there) so I am a bit one-eyed. All the talking behind the posts, he never stopped trying and he was a great defender. Really sucked that he went to Union.

I'd like to see GB win the Tri Nations, I'm sick of Australia winning everything, but the talent Australia has, I just don't see GB taking it from them. Farrell as a leader will be missed, no matter how much GB can make up for him as a player.

Out of the side you named, who would be captain?
